What Would You Do With One Million Miles?

We did it. We took a lifetime of dreaming and turned it into our reality. We planned, plotted, saved and used our Aeroplan Miles to finally take that vacation we’d always been dreaming of. We took cars, cabs, trains and busses. We used maps and matched pictures in our heads to places we’d only ever seen in movies. We relied on our wits and caffeine to forge ahead and see all we could see…. because we didn’t want to miss a thing. We’d finally made it to Italy. For 12 glorious days, we ate pasta and gelato, walked until our feet throbbed, and took hundreds, okay, maybe thousands of pictures as we crisscrossed through the inspiring country. From the city of Rome to the centre of Florence, into the countryside of Tuscany and finally the masterpiece of Venice. Sigh, can you have a crush on a country?

I was awestruck by my first view of the Colosseum in Rome, teared up when I finally saw The David in real life, and will never forget my experience of being serenaded by a Gondolier as we cruised down the narrow and romantic canals in Venice. Our trip to Italy filled my heart with pure joy and left me elated, a little tired, but mostly grateful. Grateful for the surprises, the smiles and the unexpected quiet moments. Grateful for the time spent with my little family of four. Grateful for memories made over long leisurely dinners in the Piazzas, and the unexpected laughs shared as we found ourselves hopelessly lost for the millionth time in the charming yet puzzling streets of Florence or Venice.

Travel is a gift and good for the soul! An incredible way to bond, and there may be no better way to make memories than to forge out on adventures alone, with families or in a great big fabulous group.  This world is a stunningly diverse place and I can’t wait to see where our feet and our dreams lead us next.

    11. OMG. I would go to Australia to see a MotoGP race at Philip Island. My grandma went to Australia when I was a kid and I have very clear memories of her telling us about her travels and sharing the memorabilia that she bought along the way. I’m also very passionate about motorcycles and motorcycle racing. Valentino Rossi is my hero and I’d love to see him race a Philip Island. A girl can dream…
