How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Quick & Easy Tips For A Successful Move ~ #SwifferFanatic

in Everyday on 06/24/16

My family is in a MOVING state of mind!  Okay not me, but my parents just sold their home.  My in-laws moved last month.  My SassySis is in the middle of a very emotional house hunt.  Who knew buying a house could be so much…work?  Beyond the hide and seek, the finding of that next perfect home, is the prep for selling of your own.  There’s so much work to do to get your house ready for the market.  It’s recommended you de-clutter, change out old brass knobs and lights, clean-up and stage the entire home and that just scratches the surface of the “must do” list.  Exhausted yet?  I hope not, because then you have to move!

The process doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

Have a peek at Jonathan Scott’s 5 Tips for a Clean Slate When Moving Into A New Home.

So what do you do when you have a Mom, Mother-in-Law and Sister all moving at the same time?  Volunteer your time, offer emotional support and babysitting, and of course organize your fave Swiffer products in a sweet little care package.  It’s the least you can do to help!

Taking a cue from Jonathan Scott; here are my fave tips for a clean slate when moving in and out of a new house.

  1. Make a trip to the store to stock up on a care package for those loved one’s preparing to move from one home to another.  In my care kits?  A Swiffer, a WetJet, A Swiffer Duster, and some Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.  (Only as adults can we truly appreciate this gift!)
  2. Swiffer PrizeWhile at the grocery store, check and see if they have any big boxes they are giving away.  When moving, there are never enough boxes.
  3. Help keep your loved one’s move streamlined and on track by helping them prepare all the packing the supplies they could ever need.  Box cutters, packing peanuts and paper, labels and sharpies keep the move organized, on-time and clean.
  4. Arrive with coffee, the care package, and get to it with that Swiffer. Swiffer offers easy-to-use sweeping, mopping and dusting tools for virtually every household surface.  Then follow up with the Swiffer WetJet: The all-in-one system that cleans floors thoroughly using cleaning solutions specially formulated to break up and dissolve tough messes.
  5. When the packing is almost done, make sure the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is one of the last items to be boxed up.  The Magic Eraser is a brilliant little tool for wiping up scuff marks on floors and walls as you take one last walk through your old house.  It lifts dirt, removing more grime per swipe than the leading all-purpose bleach spray cleaner.  The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser features water-activated micro-scrubbers that penetrate surface grooves anywhere grime gets trapped to remove built-up soap scum, grease and dirt.  It also has no harsh chemicals.

The best part of moving is getting a clean slate. With Swiffer and Mr. Clean, it’s easy for you and the movers to maintain that fresh clean and keep your home looking like new.  Whether moving into your first home or your dream home, Swiffer and Mr. Clean help movers celebrate their fresh starts – because there’s something exciting about making your new house a home.  Wishing all my family, friends and readers happy moving days ahead!

I’ve never thought if it that way but I agree – showing up with coffee and a willingness to help out in any way would be so appreciated!

I’ve now made it a policy that I don’t help my friends move. (I’m just too old!) But love the idea of creating a Swiffer care package for them. It could be a really cute gift with a big bottle of wine!

LOL That is a very good policy. Might have to steal it and adopt it as my own!

I love my Swiffer products, I started off with the duster and was amazed how easy it made my chores. Now I also have the Swiffer WetJet and that’s great too. Swiffer coupled with Mr Clean make moving so much easier, thanks for the great tips too. 🙂

Before I tried the Swiffer Duster I always felt like I was just blowing that dust around. Love the way that duster just grabs the dust and traps it! (and of course you’re welcome for the tips. Thanks for stopping by!)
