How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Rain and Soil and Stains? Oh MY!

in Everyday on 04/01/16

This year Mother Nature treated us to a mild winter.  We were blessed with lots of sunshine and sprinkled with but a few snow storms to remind us that we are indeed still in Canada.  So now that spring has rolled around, I think Mother Nature has decided to remind us that she’s still large and in charge.  My back yard looks like a swamp, the streets are running with water and even the squirrels look like drowned rats.  All this rain has left me anxious for the signs of spring that I adore.  I long for the buds to bloom on the lilac bushes, the crimson red tulips to force their way out of the cold hard ground, and the smell of fresh cut grass.  As March comes to a close I decided I could wait no more for the positive signs of spring, I would create my own spring nirvana.  It was time for an indoor gardening project to celebrate the arrival of a new season!

The goal: a mini herb garden for my kitchen window sill.  I gathered up a small bag of Miracle Grow potting mix.  Purchased a few little seed packets ( dill, parsley, rosemary and beans) and some adorable pots.  I found a few I liked at Pier 1 and the rest at our local hardware store.  In no time at all I found myself humming and smiling, admiring my handy work.  I had planted my own mini garden.

Tide1

The only problem, a little spill on the counter, a few soil stains on my pristine white T-shirt.

TideShirt

Not an issue.  It was a chance to put Tide Ultra Stain Release to the test! ( I may have even added some more soil to my shirt to really test out the power of Tide Ultra Stain Release!)

“Tide Ultra Stain Release is supercharged with specially formulated ingredients to help remove 99% of everyday stains, including greasy food stains. It also boasts the innovative
“Zap! Cap,” a unique pretreat cap with scrubbing bristles to provide a deep-down, pre-treat option. The cap features two textures; bristles for deep down scrubbing and a flatter portion to spread the detergent around. Put Zap! Cap to work for you with Tide Ultra Stain Release – even the cap fights stains.”

After I was happy with my planting, and my dirty shirt, I brushed away the excess soil and rinsed the spots to dilute the stains.

Then, using a plastic bucket I created a solution to soak my T-shirt.  I simply added 25 mL of Tide per gallon of cold water and completely soaked my T-shirt.  I allowed the garment to soak for 30 minutes.  Insider tip:  If your soaking a garment and find it’s floating to the top you can weight it down with a white towel.  When the 30 minutes was up, I washed the T-shirt in warm water.  Threw it in the dryer and even ironed it.  The results, a T-shirt that was just like new!

I trust Tide knowing this product removes over 100 stains in one wash.  Now I can continue to experiment with my indoor herb garden, perhaps add to it, and not worry if I soil those clothes again, Tide will always be there to rescue me.  When was the last time you tried something new?

Disclosure: I am a P&Gmom/mamanP&G ambassador. As part of my affiliation with this group I receive products and have been compensated to put Tide to the stain test. The opinions on this blog are my own.

I wasn’t aware of this new Tide Ultra Stain Release in the stores but I will be looking for it now.
Tide is my favorite laundry detergent for tough stains.

I never wear white as the minute I put it on, I spill something on it. However, I do garden and get stains. Tide is my laundry detergent of choice as it takes care of the stains.

It sounds like Ultra Stain Release Tide is a great detergent. I haven’t tried it, but I might get some for stubborn stains.

Maybe I’ll give it a try… I’ve never had problems with washing away soil from any of my clothes, but I didn’t buy white things for a long time, because I can never get rid of sweat+deodorant stains…

Have been hearing a lot about this new Tide product in social media lately. My son’s clothing is a walking disaster when it comes to stains & I can’t wait to achieve these same stain-removing results at home.

Wow, that’s amazing results. How do you find it compared to Gain? I love the smell of Gain but Tide is a brand I rely on to really get the job done.

Tide is a great product and has been around for years, and will probably be around for many more years to come. I like using Tide myself but don’t buy it to much only because of the cost, it can get a little pricey!!
