What Happens When Disney Hits The Road

Last month I had the the unique pleasure of attending Disney Social Media “On-the’Road”?  On the road?  What? Disney can make that magic travel?  Oh yes it can!  One magical day in Toronto provided me with a plethora of information that I have just been bursting to share!  So without further ado, here’s an inside scoop on just some of the Ahhh-Mazing things you can expect to see surrounding the magic of those incredible castles in the very near future!  (fair warning, this post may cause you to consider booking that next trip!)

On a gorgeous sunny day I headed into the Head Offices of Walt Disney World Canada.  Pinch me.  People, this is my job now.  My task for the day, spend the day with a group of savvy bloggers, social media influencers and media to get the sneak peek on all things Disney!

We were greeted by the kilowatt smiles of Leanne Jakubowski O’Regan, Director, Social Media for Disney Parks, as she opened the event and warmed things up with a few introductions.  She wasted no time jumping into an A-list line up of speakers.  From the very charasmatic Kevin Frankish from BT Toronto, to Chris Doyle from Twitter Canada, to some of the sassy women of The Social the crowd was both entertained and educated.

Next up, was Tyler Slater, Public Relations Manager Disney Destinations; who chatted with great enthusiasm about what is in store at Disney’s Diamond Celebration this year. His enthusiasm for all things Disney was nothing short of contagious. 

Tyler shared news of the progress and re-development of an area I have been aching to hear about; the developments taking place as Downtown Disney transforms into Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.  Already one of my favourite places to stroll through, Disney Springs is said to be doubling the number of shopping, dining and entertainment experiences to more than 150 by the summer of 2016.  Wow!  As if Tyler  didn’t already have our attention he then went on to give us the inside scoop onWalt Disney World Resort’s Disney’s Animal Kingdom park.  Did you know they are adding a brand new land?  Pandora-The World of AVATAR, themed from the hit Disney movie Avatar by Director, Producer, Writer and Editor James Cameron is in the works right now!  Right now!  

Additionally Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be adding “Toy Story Land” which will feature….wait for it….“Andy’s Backyard” !  When can we go?

As if this was not enough…one more OOOOOHHH moment.  Star Wars people. Huge Star Wars news as not one, but TWO Star Wars Land expansions were announced.  One at Disneyland and the other at Walt Disney World Resort.  Is it wrong that I would like to take my SassyNephew to both?  I can’t wait to see what they dream up.

The Disney Social Media Moms were also treated to a sneak peek of some of the their latest flicks, like Zootopia, Moana, Toy Story 4 and more DORY!! I can’t wait to see what that poor little Dory gets up to next!  The next couple of years will be a movie lovers nirvana.

At the end of the day I had to make a dash to the train and crash back to my real life.  I might, just might have spent my travel time home on the Walt Disney World travel site planning and dreaming about that next vacation, as one does. How can you blame me, there’s always something new to discover at Disney!
