Located just off Highway 401 between Woodstock and Ingersoll, in Oxford County, Ontario, or an easy 40 minute drive from London, you will find Leaping Deer Adventure Farm and Market. It’s a hidden gem. This sprawling property offers sweet delights for the young, and the young at heart. A perfect place to spend a day, simply great place to have some good old fashioned fun. Your time is well spent exploring this easy to navigate property.
The farm proudly boasts a corn maze that takes up more than 10 acres. TEN! My family loved it, but I’ll admit, we did not conquer the maze. *Hangs head in shame. It’s harder than it looks! We wandered around in there for 30 minutes, discovered compasses, tractors and all manner of treasures, but could not find the exit! I guess this means we will have to plan a return visit, and not just for another crack at the maze! There so much more to do at Leaping Deer Adventure Farm!
Time was spent bouncing in the “Birds Nest”, taking a ride around the property on the “Corn Cob Express”, exploring all the nooks and crannies and of course posing for a picture or two.
We also spent some quality time up close and personal with some very friendly farm animals. From ducks and pigs that race, to goats to peacocks and even crowds of guinea pigs, there was something to delight all the little people in the family. There were huge sand pits to play in AND corn pits to dive into. Tire mazes to climb through and hay bails to play on. At Leaping Deer Adventure Farm there was something new around every corner.
A big old ride down to the Leaping Deer Trail led to even more adventure; an opportunity to explore the trail and a chance to find the Llama’s! Back up top there’s time to race teeny John Deer Tractor Pedal Cars, (fun for all ages) and squeeze in a round of mini golf before you send off some flying chickens!
One question I kept asking myself, “How did I not know about Leaping Deer Adventure Farm before now?”.
Lunch or snacks can be found at the Green Room Cafe and include the likes of homemade Quiche, Mac and Cheese, Hot Dogs, Grilled Cheese, Burgers or Salads. Family friendly through and through. And don’t miss the bakery! Not only do they sell some “made on site” products that you must try, but they also boast some of the best butter tarts ever. Ever.
What I thought would be an hour, or perhaps two of entertainment for my 3 year old SassyNephew turned into one of the sweetest days of the entire summer. If you’re looking for a great way to spend a half day with some special people in your life, I highly recommend a peek at The Leaping Deer Adventure Farm & Market.
Worthy of note:
In 2009, Leaping Deer was awarded the Premier’s Award for being an accessible farm. In 2012 the farm was recognized by Rick Hanson Foundation Man in Motion Tour for making a difference in the community.
