How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

This Weeks. . . . . . . . . Confessions From Suburbia

in Everyday on 12/22/09

I was secretly upset when a women I volunteer with proclaimed herself Co-Convener of a charity event I RUN. You are not co-convener when you pick up one job out of twenty. Petty me.

I fed my kids pizza for dinner on Saturday night and again on Tuesday.

I haven’t returned my “Needy Girlfriends” phone call in three days. I just don’t have the energy to deal right now.

I tanked our budget this month. I really tried to wear an old dress by sprucing it up with some contraband underwear . But, then I did some emotional shopping and went out and bought a brand new dress and some kick ass shoes to go with it!

I threw my shirt in the dryer for 5 minutes and called it ironed.

I wore the same pair of jeans three days in a row. It happens.

I really don’t love my SweetGirls BFF. She is loud, and pushy and manipulative. Sigh.

I ate and ate…….. and ate so many freakin Christmas cookies that now I have to do more baking before Thursday. Ahhh the joys of the Holiday Season!

Yep, tis the season for pretty dresses, eating lots of xmas baking and coming to grips with laundry! LOL!

Pizza for dinner twice in one week… I think that makes you an awesome mom. In fact are you looking to adopt a 32 year old?

BTW- my version of ironing is hanging something in the bathroom and turning on the shower and sink full blast to steam out the wrinkles. It would be far less shameful if I wasn’t a bleeding-heart lefty who is always preaching about conserving water. We all have our secret shame.

Hang in there! On the BFF, my DD had a friend like that. It’s our neighbor’s kid. I was so happy once when she was leaving in a huff and Phoebe was upset. Her so-called BFF yelled “I’m leaving!” and Phoebe yelled back, “I don’t care!” I was secretly cheering inside for her. Phoebe goes out of her way not to play with her anymore. She has other friends in the neighborhood now. I hope something similar happens to your SweetGirl.

Oh my cheeks hurt! I know all those, especially the three days jeans…and MAN do they fit better, and I hate to iron. I bet you will look fab in your dress mama! *Whistle!

Nothing wrong with feeding the kids pizza twice a week LOL. As long as they eat, I’m happy!
