How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

A Worry Free Weekend At The H Hotel ~ Giveaway!

in Travel on 07/11/19

Serenity take me away….to the H Hotel in charming Midland Michigan.  Are you looking for a quiet getaway for two with the one you love?  Look no further than the H Hotel  Located about 140 miles northwest of Detroit, The H Hotel is popular with couples, families, and business travellers.  It’s a quiet escape from the everyday with two delectable dining options and within walking distance to a number of local attractions including the Tridge and a weekly, seasonal, Farmers Market.

Perfectly positioned on the charming Main Street of Midland Michigan, and nestled in behind a sophisticated courtyard, the H Hotel is waiting for you.  Consisting of 130 rooms and suites, and three truly fabulous eateries, the mood of this sophisticated hotel is set immediately as you enter the cool and contemporary Lobby.

As you breath in your surroundings, The staff are quick to welcome you, offer complimentary valet service, provide an overview of the hotel and easy directions to your room.

The Suites:

There are a variety of room styles available ranging in price and size.  The design of each room is bright, modern and sophisticated. Each suite is thoughfuly laid out, clean spacious and yet cozy.  The beds are quite comfortable, and the luxurious feather bedding exceptionally welcoming.  Lighting is refreshingly cool and outlets, next to the bed and throughout the room, are plentiful.  Our Deluxe Queen Suite offered a small sitting area off to one side, and a desk area perfectly arranged and waiting for you should you need to get some work done during your stay.

The spacious suites offer the following thoughtful amenities:

  • In-Room Dining
  • Built in desk area
  • Free Wifi
  • Minibar
  • Signature Robes
  • Pillow Menus
  • Flat screen TV’s
  • Keurig
  • Evening turn down

We found the suite to be welcoming and restful.  A wonderful place to lay your head after a busy day.  Beyond the stylish suites, the H Hotel offers unique indoor/outdoors event areas, boasts a well laid out fitness centre and an indoor pool and whirlpool.

The Restaurants:  Hungry?  There are three eateries right on site to indulge your inner foodie including:

Cafe Zinc

The ambiance of the contemporary hotel spills over into the chic Cafe Zinc. This modern, 40 seat French bistro is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and is a MUST do while in Midland Michigan. As  you start your day, enjoy spectacular service, hot coffee and a choice of baked goods prepared daily by the French pastry chef.  The menu changes for lunch and dinner and there are tables available both inside and out!  Our dinner left us wowed.  We feasted on an array of spectacular appetizers, scrumptious seafood dishes and desserts that are so good you might be tempted to order two…you know so you have an extra one for later.

Table

The menu, the atmosphere, the sommelier and his wine choices, all combine to gift you pure perfection at Table.  The bright and elegant menu features Certified Angus Prime steaks, line caught and/or sustainably raised seafoods, and Michigan naturally raised poultry.  As you sit soaking of the ambiance, swirling your glass of wine, it occurs o you that each course served at Table is more delectable than the next. The bread served is warm and crusty, the appetizer or Rice Cracker Crusted Lobster literally made me giggle with delight.  Literally giggle out loud.  Our Angus Prime steaks were cooked to perfection and I was introduced to a carrot cake topped with a dollop of cinnamon ice-cream that I will never forget.  Table is a destination in it’s own right and a joy to find next to the H Hotel.

Oxygen Lounge

When the lights go down and you are looking for somewhere to gather for a drink and a late night nibble, a stop by the Oxygen Lounge is called for.  The ambiance is warm and inviting, the crowd is friendly and the drink menu extensive! (not to mention those delish chips).  Oxygen also serves drinks out in the courtyard at tables under the stars.  How romantic.

What We Loved

  • The quiet – both the quiet of the location and the rooms.
  • The location – in a very walkable area of Midland, just steps from coffee shops, little galleries and gardens galore.  About a 30 minutes drive from a few major attractions.
  • Complimentary Valet – yes complimentary.
  • Free use of bikes to explore the area.
  • The restaurants.  Each one more surprising then the next.  The service was outstanding and the food worthy of the trip alone.

The H Hotel is a well kept secret that you need to know about.  Head there for a quiet retreat, spend some time at the Farmers Market, the art galleries, the stunning Dow Gardens or venture off to outlet shopping not far away at Birch Run.  End your night at the incredible restaurants right on site and then meander back to the comfortable oasis of your suite without a worry in the world.  Whatever you decide to do, you’re sure to enjoy your getaway at the sophisated and welcoming H Hotel.

Road trip!  Are you looking for some where new to explore?  Fancy a night away from the kids or with the kids?  This give away is for you!  One lucky reader of How To Survive Life In The Suburbs has the chance to WIN a $100 Gift Card to the H Hotel.  This gift certificate can be used at the hotel towards a nights stay or at one of the on site restaurants.
