How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Road Trip! Hello From Florida!

in Travel on 01/31/19

Hello from Florida!! Did you notice I’ve been gone?  Of course you did!  On Thursday morning my ever accommodating SassyHubby and I took off on our latest adventure.  We flew out of Hamilton Ontario on a delightful flight on the new direct flight SWOOP Airlines offers going straight to Tampa Florida.  I have to tell you, flying direct from Hamilton to Florida is a dream come true!  Parking is a breeze, the airport is fabulous, and in just about 3 hours we left the snow behind and landed in the Sunshine State.  Dreamy.  If you’re looking for a quick escape this Winter be sure to check out all the places they fly to at FlySwoop.com

Now, here we are just about at the end of our EPIC Florida ROAD TRIP and I have so much to tell you.  Florida is a massive State and while we’re here were going to do our very best to dive deep into the culture, food scene, beach life and night life of three very different places.  We’ll be exploring three fabulous places I haven’t had the opportunity to see before including places in:

Clearwater:  This my friends is the magnificent Opal Sands Resort.  Sigh, pictures don’t do it justice.

St Pete/Saint Petersburg where among other things we had the chance to take a private mural tour!

Tampa – Home of Sparkman Wharf, The Tampa Postcard Mural, Hyde Park Village, Tampa Riverwalk, The Florida Aquarium and the not to be missed Oxford Exchange.  I have so much to tell you about!

Anna Maria Island.  I’ve fallen in love.  Shopping on Pine Avenue, restaurants galore and of course Holmes Beach.

With countless stops to check out beaches, restaurants, art galleries and all things instagram worthy I know I’ll just be scratching the surface but promise to do my best to find you all the must see’s in thees beautiful areas.

Have you been to any of these tourist hot spots? If so, tell me all about it!

I hope you have been following along on my adventure as I continue to chat, tweet and update everyday on Instagram, Twitter and my Facebook page  Sooo many posts with even more details coming soon!

Mwah!

This is another side of Florida – one that makes me want to go there! The shopping, the architecture, the art — there is more to Florida than beaches and Disney World!

About a million and one years ago (ok, that’s a slight exaggeration, but it was close to 30) we spent a week in St. Petes/Clearwater. We loved it. It was like being on a tropical island… we walked on the beach early in the morning when no one else was around, bought shells galore from the shops, played mini golf at the most amazing miniature golf course we’d ever seen, and just lazed about. It was awesome.

Pics of your trip are truly magical! I have done road trips throughout Florida many times in the past. I have yet to visit the KEYS!

This looks like such a lovely getaway! I know I personally think of Disney when I think of Florida; but it really has a LOT to offer outside of that!

Ive been enjoying your photos (especially with us being in a DEEP freeze here!)

I have never in my life have been on a plane, but 3 hours direct to go to Florida sounds awesome to me! and Hamilton isn’t all that far from me either, a lot closer then Toronto! I think I am going to check them out!
