How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

What To Do In London Ontario This Canada Day!

in Lifestyle on 06/28/18

In my house. without a plan, the long weekend tends to slip away all to fast.  We are lost all too quickly among the collective catching of our breath as the school year ends. jumping into a list of chores, and scratching off of that never-ending list of “must do’s”.  It can be overwhelming.  So in order to take advantage of all that’s happening in our Forest City, here’s a quick list of some our favourite free or nearly free things to do this long weekend.

Eldon House

Go back in time and enjoy a celebration at Eldon House from 12 pm- 4 pm.    It’s the Canada Day Carnival, where you can experience an old-fashioned carnival and historical games. Cake and lemonade will be served at 2 pm!

The London Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum is celebrating Canada Day with FREE Admission!  The Museum will be open from 10 am – 5 pm with free admission all day.

The London Majors

Our city’s baseball team has a game on the schedule for 6 pm at the Labatt Memorial Park.  (Gates will open at 4 pm) Watch a great game of baseball and then head on out to the outfield to stretch, relax and enjoy the fireworks post-game.  ($9.00 per person)

South London Canada Day

A family celebration at the White Oaks Parks/South London Community Centre begins at 2 pm and runs until 10 pm.  The event includes live music, free inflatables, and a fun kids zone!

Optimist Club Of East London – Canada Day Celebration

Starting at 2 pm the Optimist Club of East London is offering carnival games, a Reptile Show, Bubble Soccer, Face Painting, Mad Science, Cake, Live Music, Fireworks and more!

Fire Works In Harris Park

Canada Day is returning to Harris Park in a big way.  “A Family Friendly Event from 11am-11pm, featuring Multiple Food, Beverage & Treat Vendors, Live Entertainment, a Heritage Corner, Multicultural Performances, Free Cupcakes, Exhibitors, Interactive Games, Beer Gardens, Kids Zone & 10 pm Fireworks!”  The fireworks begin at 10 pm.

However you choose to celebrate this weekend I wish you a happy, safe holiday weekend.  Happy Canada Day!

I have not been to London, Ontario before. The Eldon House sounds like a great way to spend Canada Day! (And this opinion has nothing to do with cake! 🙂 )

My friend who lives in the area tells me the London Children’s Museum is a wonderful place to visit.

It’s terrible to admit but I’ve only ever been to London for medical treatment, I’ve never played a tourist

It’s been many years since I visited London. There is a lot there to see. I should plan another visit.

These all sound like fun ideas. I think I would really enjoy Optimist Club Of East London – Canada Day Celebration.

So much to do in London. My husband used to live there and talks about it all the time. He loved it there.
