How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

How To Transition Your Outfit From Summer To Fall

in Lifestyle on 10/19/17

Cool breezes, chunky sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes.  Fall is in the air.  It’s time to put away the little blouses and sandals and make the switch to all the fabulous fall clothes.  Here are our favourite tips to make the transition from summer to fall with style and a little sass.
Layer Up:  Add tights to that favourite summer dresses, throw your favourite thick scarves over your blouses and light blazers.  Throw a flannel over any tee with jeans and you are good to go! It is a classic fall go to.  AHH-MAZINGLY SOFT PLAID BOYFRIEND SHIRT from American Eagle Outfitters $56

Buy Boots.  Boots will make any outfit pop! A comfortable, stylish choice.  We’re kind of in love with these KEESHA COGNAC KNEE HIGH BOOTS from ALDO. $150.00

Invest in a jacket.  Think leather jacket, military-style cargo jacket, denim or trench coat.  Just one statement-making jacket can take your outfit from frumpy to fabulous.  Be prepared for the cooler weather with a great coat.  A trench coat is a great way to stay warm and look fashionable while doing so!  We’re crushing on this CASHMERE-LIKE BELTED TRENCH COAT from LE CHATEAU $129.95
Add darker colours and deeper hues.  This is the perfect time to break out the big sweaters.  An oversized cardigan is a TRUE fall essential! It adds both comfort and texture.  This BDG JESSE OVERSIZED CARDIGAN  from Urban Outfitters is $82, comes in a variety of colours, and fits the bill perfectly.
Up your bag game.  An undersized backpack instead of a purse is so in and it is so much more convenient.  Our pick, the FJALLRAVEN KANKEN BACKPACK from Hudson’s Bay $95
Don’t forget the mani. Finally, a fall nail colour is definitely a necessity this season! Swap your pink, whites and French manicures for darker hues. Our choice this season, the dark, yet neutral ICELAND COLLECTION from OPI $18

If you are feeling stuck in your summer wardrobe, and not quite ready to get into the fall season spirit, try to transition.  These six easy steps should help ensure you are fashion ready this season!  Happy shopping.
