How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Seeking Palm Trees And Sunshine

in Travel on 07/15/17

It’s time.  Time for an annual event like no other.  Where my Sister and I pack up our broods and head off to the cottage!  Hold up.  Clearly, this trip is not headed anywhere near cottage country.  Sigh.  Yes, I’m sad, no happy, no nervous and excited to report that instead of the annual pilgrimage to my beloved cottage country, our crazy fam is headed to FLORIDA!

Why?  Where do I start?  Well, I’m a cottage snob.  Shocking, I know.  Every year we rent an incredible 5-7 bedroom beauty on a lake we grew up on.  We plunk down our credit card and get on with the planning.  However this year?  It wasn’t in the stars.  The cottage I had “on hold”, suddenly wasn’t available.  Heartache! The search for a replacement started too late and was an exercise in frustration.  Cottages that came close to meeting our needs were asking in excess of $6ooo.oo, yes SIX THOUSAND dollars, for a week.  Freaking ridiculous.  Then one (wine-addled) afternoon, an epiphany of sorts.  We could go to Orlando, Kissimmee actually, and stay in a 6 bed 5 bath house with our very own pool and hot tub in the heart of Kissimmee for a whole lot less than that.  And a new plan was born!!

Before long flights were booked and a new amazing annual event is on the horizon.  Our annual SISTERS Cottage Vacation has just become our Annual Sisters Vacay.  Please Lord let this go well!  Two Mamas, 2 Teens, a 5 year old and a toddler.  This could get interesting.

Wish me luck as we explore new horizons, take in new attractions and seek out some palm trees and sunshine.  This vacation is going to be blogworthy.  I’ll be taking the opportunity to take a much need break with my loved one’s so see you when I return!  Be sure to follow all the fun by keeping in touch with me as I occasionally update from Twitter, Facebook and of course Instagram!

Wow I can’t believe anyone has the nerve to charge $6000 for a week at a cottage, unbelievable greed! I’d of picked somewhere else too.
