How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Good and Simple. A New Fave Snack!

in Lifestyle on 07/10/17

Summer!  The season brings us the sunshine and pool days, BBQ’s and beach time.  Long afternoons in the park and excuses for a picnic on a red and white checkered blanket with just you and your little one.  Summer is my favourite season of the year for so many reasons.  The days are longer, the weather is superb, there’s time for adventure and your kids are home from school, away from so many pressures.  The kids just get to be kids again.  It’s a chance to play, explore your neighbourhood and beyond, and make some memories.  It’s also the time of year you will hear “I’m hungry” more than any other time in your life!
Between the swims, the early morning soccer practices, the picnic in the parks or just the need for good nutritious snacks every day, I try and keep my pantry stocked for those “snacking emergencies”.  This is why I was so excited to be introduced to Good & Simple Muffins and Bars.
Good & Simple Muffins and Bars attracted my attention right away because they are made with no artificial flavours or colours and are made from real ingredients including blueberries, cranberries and bananas, whole grains, flax and sunflower seeds and chocolate.  Good wholesome ingredients I want my family to be reaching for when they snack.  I had to know more.  Could a pre-packaged snack really be the better snack choice and be tasty too?
Good & Simple Muffins are available in three fabulous flavours:

Fruit + Fibre (with Blueberries and Cranberries)

Banana Bran

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip (super yummy and great for when the sweet craving hits)

Good & Simple Bars are also available in three flavours:

Cranberry Orange + Flax

Maple Walnut + Grains

Blueberry Oatmeal

The Good & Simple products arrive packaged up ready to go.

You read that right, they may taste homemade and are packed full of real ingredients, but you don’t have to bake them!

Thanks to Good & Simple products being individually wrapped, the muffins and bars are moist and fresh.   They are carefully boxed in packages of 4 muffins or 5 bars,  and may be the perfect snack to take on the go!  Easy for your kids to grab on the way to soccer, or for you to snag before you take off to drive that next car-pool.

My family dove right in to give them a try. Here are our thoughts:
  • The muffins were moist and tasty.  Filling and dense like a real home made muffin might be.
  • The bars are a new favourite in this house.  We sampled the Maple Walnut + Grains and there were snapped up.  Just a little bit sweet and perfect with a coffee or juice either at the kitchen table or on the go.
  • Both are so fresh! We were shocked, yes shocked that these snacks were not home made.  Suddenly we have a wholesome, snacking choice that tastes homemade, is packed full of real ingredients, that I feel good about giving to my kids, and I don’t have to bake!  Fantastic.
  • Individually Wrapped. We appreciated that each was individually wrapped so we could throw this in a picnic basket or purse to go, or grab one on our way out the door to the park.
  • Ingredients.  As a Mom, I appreciated the wholesome ingredients in each and every product.
  • They were “just plain yummy”.
**Warning; these Good & Simple bars are so good you may just end up making an extra run to the grocery store simply to buy more.  We did!  You can find Good & Simple products in Ontario at Metro and Freshco stores now.
When you’re shopping and stocking your pantry this summer, whether that be to create the perfect picnic basket, pack up a lunch or just want to grab a nutritious snack, consider adding some Good & Simple Muffins and Bars to your shopping basket.

Happy Snacking!

What I really liked reading is that these food items tastes fresh. Nothing is worse than a stale, mealy, crumbly packaged baked good.
