My every day is filled with but one wish for my children. That they are healthy and happy. It doesn’t seem like a grand wish, but it truly is everything. My Husband would tell you “Happy Wife, happy life.” and I’d say a Mother is only as happy as her saddest child. As Mother’s we want everything for our kids and at Christmas time, this feeling doubles. Not only do I want healthy, happy children, but I want to tick some of their wishes off their Christmas list too!
As the Holidays approach and those Christmas lists are created our little family checks in with each other. Make sure we are doing well, that our family is happy, that our neighbours are well, and we look for small ways to pay it forward. Shovelling snow for the neighbours, buying coffee for the person behind us in the Timmys line, and purchasing gifts for the local Angel tree.
Recently I was introduced to an initiative I didn’t know much about. Duracell, along with Walmart Canada has partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network and are making a difference in the lives of children. Each year, thousands of children and their families spend time in Canadian hospitals over the holidays. I can’t fathom how difficult that would be. For children staying in the hospital, often something as simple as a new working toy or game can help make a child’s hospital stay a little brighter, by giving them the power to imagine a better tomorrow.

I was going to provide two Christmas care packages to two seniors. I had part of the shopping done. And my sister passed suddenly. So I didn’t finish my donation. 🙁 I did however manage to donate a bottle to my friends kids hockey team fundraiser. And I plan to buy tickets. Even though I don’t drink. Just supporting.
