How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Loblaws Click & Collect : The Best Grocery Hack Ever!

in Everyday on 05/26/16

Disclosure: I am a P&Gmom ambassador. As part of my affiliation with this group I have been compensated to test the Loblaws Click & Collect service. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Recently I chatted with you about how to survive grocery shopping in the suburbs.  You all had some amazing tips, and now it’s my turn!  I’m eager to introduce you to the Loblaws Click & Collect program.  What is this program? Just the greatest thing ever!  It affords the grocery shopper the opportunity to select their grocery items online, then pick up their order up at their convenience by scheduling a time that works of them.  It saves you precious time, and for me, money whenever you shop!!

Here’s a little bit about my experience.  Setting up my Loblaws Click & Collect account was simple.  Even better, now that my profile is set up, my information will be remembered for future shops.  After I was all set up, it was time to shop!

You can shop by aisle.

Shop by brand.

And after you’ve used the service once, you an even use Quick Shop to shop using your previous purchases.

The entire process is simple and straightforward.

Things I love:

  • It helps with menu planning for the week by allowing you to double check that shopping list before you buy.  Menu planning saves me time and money!
  • Helps control those impulse purchases.  When I shop on-line I stick to the plan, when I wander through the store I throw in extra bags of chips, chocolate and ice-cream.  (Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it is bathing suit season!)
  • Can be done anywhere! You can shop from your backyard while you supervise a playdate, while you have that morning coffee in the morning, or watching the Young and The Restless.  Ha!  Saving those valuable Mommy Minutes and making me feel like a multi-taskng genius.  Winning.
  • That little grocery cart in the corner helps you to keep a running total as you shop.  So smart.
  • Need inspiration for dinner this week?  You can click though the flyers and deals section to see what’s on sale this week!

Once you’re done, you can schedule your pick-up time.  Yes, you read that right.  You pick your location and the time you want your groceries to be ready.   They will be bagged, or if you have green boxes, binned and waiting for you at the appointed hour.  Then all you have to do is pull into the dedicated parking spots.  Follow the easy call in instructions to let them know you have arrived, and those groceries are put right into the back of the car for you.  It’s service that makes you over the top happy!  A little giddy really.  I spent about 5-7 minutes in total waiting for those groceries to land neatly in the back of my car.  Far less than it would have taken for me to check out myself.   I used those minutes to answer some e-mails;  multi-tasking again!  I can’t wait to try this service when we get ready to head to the cottage! What an incredible way to create a list of everything we need, and then pick it up on the way up north.  Click & Collect, where have you been all my life!  Those saved Mommy Minutes are really starting to add up!  This may be the best grocery shopping hack ever.

Have you ever ordered groceries on line?  I can’t wait for you to try it and tell me what you think!

I don’t think this would work for me because I’m fussy about picking out the best fruits and vegetables. I want to know my stuff isn’t all bruised etc.

This would be great for older people too (if they were internet savy). Could have someone pick up groceriew for them. Hmmm. That’s the second elderly comment I’ve made in 2 days. (Starting to worry about parents re: these kinds of things)
