How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Mama Said There’d Be Days Like This

in Family on 02/23/16

StressedOutMama

The bus didn’t show up.  Again.  Panic dash to get the kids to school on time.

The cat threw up in my daughters bed.

We got a note home from dance saying there is a case of head lice at the studio.  (let the phantom itchiness begin and check all the heads!)

The dog won’t stop barking.  Does he not know the squirrels do not understand him?

Something is burning in the bottom of the oven.  It does not smell good.

My car door won’t open.  It’s not frozen.  It just won’t open from the outside which is loads of fun.  Well at least for everyone else at the grocery store who gets to watch a 5 ft 9 women in a winter coat climb over the front seat and unlock her drivers side door from the passenger side.  There may have been cursing.

The chicken I just bought at the grocery store has a truly funky smell.

That is the second “solicitor” to knock on my door tonight.  Even though I have a “No Soliciting” sign up.  They both started they speeches with; “Ma’am, don’t worry I’m not a solicitor.”  Dude.  You lost me at Ma’am.

My youngest splashed “Spray n Wash” in her eye trying to clean cat throw up off her comforter.

My oldest seems to have sprained her ankle at volleyball practise.  Off to the ER we go.

Mama said there’d be days like this.

Pass the wine.

Just keeping it real here in my little corner of the suburbs.

I often feel like these days are every day!!! But luckily there are enough good days in between to maintain sanity… 🙂

My youngest daughter is a single parent and is disabled. Her days are like this every day and the chaos never seems to stop. I agree, pass the wine.

Days like that make me want curl up in the fetal position and cry. Hopefully a hot shower and a good night’s sleep later, you’re feeling better. Hope today’s better for you and yours!

I do like how it ends though! Unfortunately I appear to be out of wine.

Your day is a lot worse than mine. So sorry. But I’ve had my share of “suckage” days lately. My oldest came home with school with a fever 3 weeks ago. It lasted one day. However the next day his little brother had a fever. It lasted for 4 days. Then it turned into a cold. I caught it. He woke up every night for 4 days straight at 4:30 a.m. crying. One time when I went to tend to him, I fainted. Was out cold for 5 minutes. Scared the shit out of hubby. Then everyone was well again and fine for about 4 days until hubby went to Montreal for work and came back with the flu. Gave that to my oldest who then gave it to his brother again. Everyone had fever. Everyone vomited. I had to tend to all of them. I wore a face mask and washed my hands 1000 times a day, afraid of catching it. When everyone started feeling better, I caught a “little” cold. At least it wasn’t the flu, thank GOD! I think I got the cold because I was so tired helping others with no help from anyone else. There’s more but I’m getting depressed thinking about it so I’ll stop now.

Now that the song is stuck in my head, what’s up with the the school bus?

      Hang in there.

It’s one of those days where you wish you’d never got out of bed – we all have them and they do make us enjoy the days where nothing goes wrong more, unfortunately they are few and far between but a blessing when they are there.

When it rains… it pours. Unfortunately, I’ve had my share of days like that so I can sympathize. Thank Goodness there are far more good days then those where it feels like the sky is falling!

I hear you it has been one of those WEEKS not a Day here. Three animals all with ailments – cat with a skin sore that she won’t leave alone even with a cone & shirt on, one dog with a bladder infection peeing blood and another that appears to have a sore mouth. And to top it off Hubby got tangled in the sheets trying to get out of bed last night, tripped into the closet door and BROKE the door (he is fine). I think I will just give up!
