How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Lucky Eight – Old School Style

in Everyday on 02/18/16

Back in “the day” (and yes I can say that because I’ve been at this blogging thing for more than 7 years), we used to do this silly little thing where we found fun memes and filled them in.  It helped to get our creative juices flowing, open up about ourselves, and let our readers into our worlds.  Today, I decided to resurrect that fun tradition with the Lucky Eight.  Some simple questions that are going to give you a little too much information about me and hopefully inspire you to play along.  So without further ado, here are my answers, hope to see some of yours in the near future!

8 Things I am Looking Forward to:
1. That next vacation.  Always.  I think it’s time to book a flight somewhere warm!  Where to?  I don’t know but I’m open to suggestions!
2. Date night with Romantic Hubby. A roaring fire and a good chic flick are in order.  Stat.
3. Taking the girls to see Marianas Trench.  Actually, I’m maybe more excited about this than I should be?  I’m also thinking that when I picked up those tickets to Justin Bieber for the girls, I should have picked up just one more for me.  Wow.  That is all.
4. Our next vacation to Florida. You can’t go wrong with sunshine and palm trees.
5. Watching my Girl kill it on the volleyball court next weekend!
6. New kitchen counter tops.  Yup, what’s a true sign that you are old?  When you are excited about new kitchen counters.
7. The first dance recital of the year.  My youngest dances 5 times a week.  I can’t wait to see what her team has been working on.
8. Summer.  I know it seems like a long way off, but this snow can’t stick around forever. And this summer means pool days, cottage life and the dream trip to Italy that we’ve been dreaming about for YEARS.

8 Things I did Yesterday:
1. Fought with 3 piles of laundry and won. Glamorous.
2. A Twitter Party about travel.  Were you there?  Love Twitter parties!
3. Cleaned up dog puke.  Living the life I tell ya.  What did that damn dog eat?
4. Drove my girls to school because the school bus did not show up. Again.
5. Bought two more bags of dog food. (at 8 cups a day this Great Dane pup goes through a lot of kibble!)
6. Drank copious amounts of coffee.  God bless the person who invented coffee.
7. Missed a call from my girlfriend because I don’t seem to have time to breathe.
8.Made a “To-Do list” of 15 things I had to get done, then added Call Bus Company, Clean Kitchen, and Look at Villas in Rome just so I could scratch them off the list.  I’m tricky like that.

8 Things I wish I could do:
1. Magically lose 10 pounds. Snap.
2. Arrange for Starbucks to be delivered. Like every day.  Wouldn’t that be brilliant?
3. Get over my irrational fear of the dentist.
4. Find just 1 more hour in every day.
5. Eradicate all the mean girls of the world.  Poof!
6. Speak another language ohh or if my SassyHubby spoke another language? HAWT!
7. Not give a damn what other people thought.
8. Take another photography class.

8 Shows I Watch
1. The Walking Dead
2. Shameless (so bad and yet so good!)
3. Master Chef
4. Better Call Saul
5. Jimmy Fallon
6. and Every singly James Corden – especially when he does Car Karaoke.  Oh my gosh he is hilarious! (don’t miss the moments at 5:30 and 12:20 LOVE)

7. The Young and the Restless (yes I’m a cliche SAHM who watches a soap)
8. Dateline/ 60 minutes/  20-20 Any kind of who done it murder mystery! Hint : It’s always the spouse!
-Wowie I watch too much TV!

So there you have it. My crazy eight in all it’s glory.  Hope it’s not TMI and if you play along, don’t forget to tell me!

Love this! I’m a fan of Shameless, Better Call Saul and James Corden’s car sing alongs. My favourites were James singing with Sia and Adele! 🙂

I love this list….. And I love Y&R – fun fact about Y&R – I grew up watching it. My mom moved to FL about 10 years ago from NY. Her apartment was owned by Jerry Douglas (John Abbott’s) mom. Jerry signed all the closing documents when my mom bought it because his mother passed…

Fun read and my favorite Caribbean island is St. Maarten; my favorite US beach is Cherry Grove…probably because I own a rental condo. Too bad I don’t use it as much as I rent it.
No television, gave it up and only watch DVD’s now and, I think, the most thing I’m looking forward to is selling the farm and moving. Life changes dictate this, especially as Dave, my beloved husband, died.

Oh! I remember those days! Blogging certainly has changed, hasn’t it? I’ll try to get around to playing along, but I’m still in the throes of unpacking, decorating, etc.

Congrats on the new counters – it IS exciting! I can’t even begin to tell you how over the moon I was when I got a new washer and dryer, it’s almost embarrassing.

A very nice blog post, I enjoyed reading this. Can’t say that I find your fear of the dentist to be an irrational fear. I’m petrified of the dentist and with good reason, dentists always hurt me! The worst was having a tooth drilled for a crown and not being able to have any anaesthetic due to pregnancy. Horrific! He did try some herb based natural stuff which was injected into my gum and caused my heart to beat 10 times faster than normal – dreadful so that was that. I survived but the pain was horrendous.

Pretty much most of the things on your “8 Things I wish I could do” list, I agree with. BF is learning a new language from me and I find it really sweet of him <- plus it's so cute when he uses that language to say something really sweet or unexpected to me <3

I love the car karaoke I don’t have any tv provider, can’t afford it so right now it’s you tube and Netflix for me.
