How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

The Garden Grocer ~ Worth A Click!

in Lifestyle, Travel, Uncategorized on 07/07/15

When I stay in a hotel with my family, I usually end up with an entire extra bag dedicated to “snacks” to get us through.  No vacation is complete without snacks and treats!  No room to pack snacks?  Then we end up spending precious vacation time hunting down a grocery or variety store to stock that mini fridge with over priced water, juice, granola bars, chips and fruit.  All manner of snackage required for hours around the pool or those in-between munchie attacks.

For my latest family trip we would be staying at the Yacht Club at Disney World.  I knew we would be running off our feet busy, and not really very close to any manner of grocery store so thought I would give the Garden Grocer a try.

The Garden Grocer is an on-line grocery service that offers a wide selection of over 4,800 of your favorite products right at your finger tips.  Whether you’re coming to Orlando for a convention or going to Walt Disney World®, Universal Orlando® Resort or SeaWorld for a vacation, GardenGrocer.com is available to deliver groceries to your hotel, resort or vacation home.  With a few clicks of the buttons I was able to quickly fill my cart with water, juices, granola bars, chips, pop, fruit, apple sauce and even an adult beverage or two.

Since I was placing my order a full 60 days before our impending arrival, an automatic 10% discount was added to my order.  Winning!   The next day I received a personalized phone call to let me know my order had been received, and to reassure me that my order would be ready and waiting for me at Bell Services upon my arrival at the Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.  Colour me impressed!  When was the last time you had a phone call to double check your on-line order and see if the store could help you with anything else?

Our flight into Orlando was a bit delayed, but I knew my order had arrived.  I received a text to let me know.  Wow.  We didn’t arrive to our hotel until close to 10pm, but as promised our entire Garden Grocer order was neatly packaged and and waiting for us.  We just picked it up at Bell Services and loaded it into our mini fridge in our rooms.

All in all, a perfect way to start our Disney World vacation.  Ordering groceries ahead of time meant a few dollars and defiantly precious vacation time saved.  The well stocked fridge meant happy kids!   This service is definitely SassyModernMom approved.

Disclosure:  This is not a paid review, just my opinion of a great service for your next Disney or Orlando Vacation.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this! I’ve never been to the US at all, but, I do know the need for food during travel. I normally eat out for meals but, I do get hungry in between. It’s a good way to save without having to get to the local grocery upon arrival in your destination. In Toronto, I order at Grocery Gateway prior to my return so that there’s food delivered. As most trips leave me jet lagged or sick upon arrival, it makes sense to have groceries delivered at home to save effort as your body adjusts to the time and season after a trip.

Wow that is so handy and convenient, especially if you are feeling a bit jetlagged!

I looked at this when we went to Disney last year but since we had a rental car we went to the closest Winn Dixie and shopped for ourselves. We’ll definitely use this service on our next vacation to Disney! 🙂
