How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Where Would You Go? Dare To Dream About Your Next Vacation

in Travel on 03/09/15

Gasping at the New York skyline, standing in awe in the museums of Paris, walking for miles on the feather soft sand of the beaches of Turks and Caicos.  I adore all things travel and have a travel bucket list as long as my arm.  I love to explore new places, take my family on crazy adventures and then settle in back home with enough pictures and memories to keep us warm until we can do it all again.  Full confession; I’m usually dreaming of that next vacation before the wheels of the airplane even hit the ground!

Over the years I’ve found a few favourite places I love to run off to to escape both the suburbs and the frigid cold winter.   If I had to pick my favourite place to escape to right now?  It would have to be Kissimmee Florida.  For my family of four there may not be an easier, sweeter, faster family escape.  A short plane ride from many major airports, or driveable if you are feeling quite caffeinated, Kissimmee, near the area of Orlando is accessible, friendly and fun for for all.

Once you arrive in Kissimmee you can stay in one of the many available rental home communities or hundreds of gorgeous resorts that surround the biggest attraction in the world; DisneyWorld!

DisneyCastle2[5]

Disney is of course worthy of it’s very own trip.  Days can be spent making memories at the Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and my favourite of all, The Magic Kingdom. Beyond Disney there’s SeaWorld, Universal Park, the many Water Parks, Mini-Golf and so much more!  Kissimmee is only a short drive to the beautiful Cocoa Beach, a must with teenagers, and Boggy Creek Airboat rides are a must if you have an wildlife lover in your group.  Have you ever seen an alligator out sunning itself?

Then there’s the food.  In this part of Florida you can find all manner of restaurants from sweet little family run Italian Bistros, to the giant T-Rex Restaurant that will  entertain your kiddos and astound the adults.  The foodie in your group will be overjoyed.  Insider tip; while exploring the area do not miss the Town of Celebration, it’s like stepping back in time and may be the best place to sit, grab a old fashioned homemade milk shake, and do some people watching.

Still need something else to do?  You can take a swing at one of the dozens of championship Golf Courses, or shop until your drop at the outlet malls!

In short I love heading to Kissimmee because it’s so close yet a world.  A short plane ride takes you to the land of palm trees where you can choose to idle away the hours in the pools with your family, or keep busy every hour of every day.  There really is something for everyone in Kissimmee Florida.

The world is so much fun too explore. When my son was little we used take him to Florida often. Had friends with a house in North Port. As he got older ventured to the Caribbean and then later Europe. Now he’s his own man & loves to travel. I’m sure once the grandkids come we will be cool enough to travel with. Thanks for the opportunity. I’m sure they will come if we win ….lol

Brenda I love the way you travel! Florida is such a sweet and easy way to travel when your kids are small. I haven’t managed to get my girls to Europe yet, but it is on my list!

We are going to Florida for the first time ever this spring. Boggy Air boats and Celebration sound perfect to change the pace from the theme parks on our “relax days”. Thanks for the tips!

Jacki you are going to have so much fun!! Can’t wait to hear what you think about Celebration and if you throw “Boggy Creek” into my search bar you will find even more info about that half day adventure!
