How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Missing The Sweets and Treats ~ Azul Beach

in Travel on 12/12/13

Food.  When you pick an all inclusive resort to take your family to, what are some of the things you look for?  For me it goes a little something like this:

Location. On the beach.

Pools.  Points for plentiful and fabulous.

Accommodation.  Space! Style. Security and comfort.

Food.  Of course the food! I have to tell you about the restaurants and seemingly endless choices available at Azul Beach,.  They are doing it right.  Plentiful restaurants, exceptional service, a huge variety of choices, a la carte dining, desserts to die for, and no reservations required!  Oh and as I have mentioned before, 24 hour room service!

World Cuisine and THE place to be for breakfast.

I could talk to you about the endless buffet options.

The made to order omelettes with the freshest of ingredients.

IMG_0785

The “create your own” mimosa bar.  Good morning!

IMG_0788IMG_0789IMG_0790

The sweet “kid size” table where the little one’s can just help themselves.

IMG_0782IMG_0781

I could mention how good the coffee is, or the fact that I am now in full on “bacon with drawl”. Or I could just go ahead and confess that I came home a full five pounds heavier than when I left.  I blame this on the breakfast.  (also open for lunch and dinner and has an amazing view of the beach beds and ocean)

TAINAN

Asian Cuisine and home of the “Sushi River”.

We grabbed seats at the bar and immersed ourselves in this incredibly fun experience.  It was a first not just for my girls, but for my Hubby and myself too.  As the sushi master creates and plates the sushi, it is set “to sea” on the Sushi River making it’s way around the huge circular table.  Chefs in the middle.  He made it look so easy!  Each creation didn’t last long as eager patrons in the restaurant helped themselves!  It was delicious!  We took turns grabbing what looked good to us and enjoyed some green tea until our platters of Asian inspired appetizers arrived.  This was a dinner I won’t soon forget.

ROMA FAMILY RESTAURANT
Italian cuisine served up in a warm atmosphere.

AzulItalianAzulKidsMenu

As with the other restaurants we entered, when we were welcomed we were asked if any one in our party had any food allergies the chef should be made aware of.  Food allergies are not an issue for my family, but I did appreciate being asked.  An incredible service.  Staff were welcoming and sweet, and warm pasta is always enjoyed.

LATINO RESTAURANT

Offering Latin American Cuisine. we didn’t try Latino until our second last night.  We were sure it would be our children’s least favourite, we were wrong! AzulLatin1

It quickly became our family favourite.  Hubby and my oldest daughter adored the Beef Tenderloin, while I opted for a mango chicken dish that was delish!  Aside from the mains served at this restaurant it was the Chef’s Choice appetizers that blew our minds.

AzulLatin

A savoury collection of chicken satays, shrimp, pork of some kind and truthfully something I just could not identify!  It was fun and fabulous.  The best part of the meal, and the part I will be trying to recreate here at home, the dessert!  If you go to Azul, when you go to Azul, you simply must go to Latino and order the Churro’s for dessert.  It is served like this:

AzulLatinChurros

With a thick chocolate dipping sauce, a hot lava cake, and hot chocolate on the side.  Throw a cappuccino into the mix and I am one very happy and very full Mama!  Oh I can taste it right now!

CHIL
On the beach with more Contemporary Cuisine and a very relaxed atmosphere.  With stunning views of the water,  and a glorious ocean view it is impossible not to relax at Chil.  We indulged in Tacos, Burgers, Fries, Nachos, Poppers, and Wraps.  PS  the guacamole is amazing.  This quickly became a lunchtime favourite.  (Also a great spot for a photo op while you wait for your lunch!)  I should also mention that each restaurant had sterilized and prepped booster seat chairs available for the little one’s.  So perfect, entertainment and a safe seat for your babe!

IMG_0973IMG_0778

LA MANCHA ENERGY BAR
Need a quick cookie, smoothie, or turkey and cheese?  Want to encourage your little one to have a banana or apple?  How about a jar of baby food for your baby?  Yes! Truly!  This little snack bar has everything and you can just grab and go.  We loved the Energy Bar for snacks around the pool, or even on our way back up to our room.  Good grief, we ate a lot!

On top of all of these options were the occasional pop ups through out the week, like the opportunity to order a picnic on your beach bed.  Dreamy!!  Or take advantage of indulging in the BBQ on the beach, buffet style.

AzulBBQ

Quick, fast and tasty.  Perfect for those of us who don’t want to give up the precious sun hours, and want to get back to the pool or beach!

We were at Azul Beach for an entire week, took advantage of the room service and tried each restaurant at least once.  By the end of our stay we had chosen favourite places, favourite dishes and most certainly favourite desserts.  The stand out; no reservations required.  Perfect for the busy family looking to make the most of every moment of their vacation. Our Sassy Family approves.

Can we go back now?

It was so great that the little ones, or cereal lovers of the taller variety, could just grab a box of their fave cereal and dig in! A little taste of home whtile they travel!
