How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

The Beach And The Pools Of Azul Beach

in Travel on 11/30/13

I am a sun seeker.  Do you know what a sun seeker needs, besides the sun of course?  A beautiful place to play with her kids and soak up those rays!  Azul Beach Resort by Karisma delivers this tenfold!  This may be a boutique style resort, but it is spread out in such a way as to take advantage of their beachfront, and allow for the placement of numerous fabulous pools!

My passion lies with the beach so we will head there first.  Soft white sand with sporadic beach beds cover the length of Azul Beach.  IMG_0903

There are plenty of beach chairs, and not once did we feel like we had to get up early and “save” seats or fight to find somewhere to sit.  A refreshing change from experiences past.  The sand was white and fun to dig in, and the Azul staff worked diligently to clear away sea grass that is clearly a problem during the rainy season.  IMG_0871

On our third day at Azul Beach we opted to reserve a Beach Bed.  It’s an easy process.  Go to the activity centre on the beach at about 3pm and sign up for a bed the following day.  No fee.  Perfect and SO much fun.

The sun is so hot in Mexico, even for me, that it is a bit of relief to have somewhere to have a little shade, not to mention make you feel ridiculously spoiled!  We laid in our bed reading books, chatting, deciding between volleyball or swimming, and generally feeling like royalty.  Being served any drink we desired by the ever-present beach servers, and even grabbing lunch from The Energy Bar to eat in our Beach Bed!  How indulgent!

Days not spent on the beach were divided up among the many pools!

The beach bar pool.

The Children’s Pool.  Very shallow and loads of fun to play in!

The Pool nearest our villa.  This one felt almost private!  Except on Football Sunday when the sports fans were out in droves to watch the game and toss a Frisbee around.  For me, the Frisbee throwing was just a lame attempt to get a little exercise and burn off some of those Mud Slides, Bahama Mamas, and Miami Vices!  Yum!

Passing between the villas by numerous bridges and pathways led to the second swim up pool bar, divided up into essentially three separate pools.

One pool we did not play in, was the adults only pool, located beachfront!

Whether you crave the pool or the beach, there was a perfect spot for everyone.

Full confession.  A week was barely long enough to try them all!

That looks so lovely! I wish I had been there instead of in chilly Toronto this week.

Today it is a balmy 28 degrees in Chicago, so believe me when I say I’d rather be there! We haven’t ventured out on a family vacation since our peanut was born….but when we brave it, I’d love to try this place out! Looks gorgeous!

This looks lovely. I particularly like the idea of the children’s shallow pool for our kiddies to play in! And lunch in those fab beach beds would make the day perfect. Sign me up!! It would appear that there is something for eveyone.

Those beach beds were super comfy!! (and might I add super clean) The beach attendants made them up for you when you arrived, adding extra towels and even extra beach chairs outside the bed for those of you wishing for a little more sunshine. It was brilliant.

There is something about a quality all inclusive that makes you just sigh. Knowing you could walk up to any bar or restaurant and not fret the price. Such a gift. Knowing your kids could do the same!! How spoiled they felt!

Wow that beach bed, those pools and the beach – they would have had to drag me on the plan, no way would I have wanted to leave!

LOL That is exactly how my kids felt. Sign of a good vacation, when neither of your kids want to leave!

Oh there is so much snow here right here now I could absolutely use an escape to those gorgeous pool and beaches! Love the idea that you can soak up the sun from your own private beach bed, what a great place to make your home for the day!

I must confess, we’ve only been back for two weeks and I’m already dreaming about when we can escape back to Azul Beach!

Looks amazing! I would love to get away, but the budget says no so guess we will have to put up with this crazy weather we are having here.

        December 1, 2013 at 4:33 pm

Oh that bottom line!! It gets us too! We tend to try and budget for vacations as often as possible living under the philosophy that life is just too short!

Not only did we enjoy the beaches, the pool and the sunshine, but being able to show our girls some of the culture of the Mexican people too. A week wasn’t quite long enough!

Azul Beach looks like the perfect place for a family holiday. We must check into it for February. And to not have to save seats would be real bonus. (Loved all the pool pictures).

It was so refreshing to get up in the morning and find the beach staff had put towels on every chair!! No way to “save seats” this way! Fabulous.
Loved Azul Beach for our family getaway and truly recommend it!

I’ve been to resorts where there are one or two beach beds and you have zero chance of getting a beach bed, this resort was such a size that if you wanted to reserve a beach bed you could! So much fun! My girls loved it even more than I did!

Oii, I am jealous. Doesn’t look like the pools were overly busy, everyone must have been enjoying the beach. I would like to try sitting in a pool having a drink at the bar one day…I may be dreaming at this point.

        It doesn’t hurt to dream!!
We are a family that likes our space, so appreciated that the pools were on the quiet side. If you wanted to find some people to chat with you certainly could, but if you wanted your own pool you could almost find that too! Fabulous!

The level of service would remind you of some of your best stays in the European resorts.
So many pools and wait until I tell you about all the restaurants 🙂

The resort had a Hobie cat that would take you and your family our for a tour right from the beach in front of the hotel!
Oh now you have me missing the warm salty air again 🙂
