Do you know that next week there is a very special day on the calendar? It’s International Grilled Cheese Day! An entire day to celebrate the ooey gooey yum that is the Grilled Cheese Sandwich? Makes sense to me!
Grilled Cheese sandwiches have long been a favourite in my house. Eating a perfectly toasted, super buttery Grilled Cheese Sandwich brings back a flood of childhood memories. I clearly recall rushing home from school on my lunch break to find a hot Grilled Cheese waiting for me. Thick buttery bread grilled to perfection and stuffed full of melted cheese, only made more special because I was granted permission to take it into the family room and watch the Flintstones while I ate. Whispers of ”Just try not to spill the ketchup on the rug” from my Mom as I skipped away.
Now that I’m the Mama of two, it’s my turn to pass on the tradition of the Grilled Cheese to my girls! We indulge in Grilled Cheese with a side of soup, jazz it up with some bacon, and experiment by throwing on different kinds of cheeses and even the occasional grilled veggie! One thing remains the same, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are always a hit!
