May “Two Four”!

At what age did we start calling this glorious upcoming long weekend the “Two Four” Weekend?  The first official weekend of the summer!   Was it at about 18?  That age when we were sure no one was cooler and nothing was better then when you grabbed your besties, your bikini, your sunscreen and of course your 2-4 and headed to the nearest beach and hoped, no prayed the sun came out.  Thinking back to that, I have to admit, it does sound PRETTY good right about now.  Imagine, an entire weekend where all you would have to worry about is where  you will crash, what you would wear, and who would bring the Malibu Rum.   

Those days are looonnng gone.   

My May “Two Four” this year?  Let’s see.  SweetGirl has got to get some piano practice in she has an exam in a couple of weeks, and I have to check to see if dance is cancelled.  BlueEyes has gymnastics on both Friday and Sunday.  Hubby has to work.  Sigh.  Then of course there is the regular homework and fabulous over grown lawn and laundry.  I do have a  little party on Saturday to look forward to.  Sure it’s a Birthday bash for a one year old, but you know what, those are now my fave kind of events!  (Don’t judge, I’m old now and don’t get out much)

Oh how life has changed.  Somehow we’ve gone from who has the cutest bikini to who has the busiest calendar.  Normal, but not always fun.  This Mama in the Suburbs needs a break.  Needs to shake things up a bit! 

Somewhere between the piano, the homework the housework, gymnastics and dance I need to squeeze some good old fashioned “Two Four ” into it!  Or at least some wine?

Here’s the plan.  I bought me some sunscreen and there’s a bottle of white wine chillin’ in the fridge.  I will not let this first weekend squeak by without dusting off the bikini tankini  and hitting the beach.   I might even take my Husband and Kids.  The plan, to get a cocktail in one hand, and a shovel and pail in the other because this is how I roll.  

My “Two Fours” may look a little more like this now…

    2. You had me confused too!! I hope you get in lots of relaxing inbetween all that business. DD and I were having the same conversation last night..when will we ever get a weekend where we don’t have to go anywhere or do anything? Arghh life, you spin us round the tumbler some times.

    3. Oh I have confused some of my American friends! Sorry! Yes. 2-4 refers to our first long weekend of ths summer. Credit is supposed to go to Queen Victora as this is close to her Birthday…but instead in our own Canadain way we thank the case of beer. the 2-4 🙂

      For us, we lived in bikini’s at the beach. :0
      I do love my day to day life now too though…but I do miss that ‘throw on any bikini and it fits’ phase though. We didn’t know that it would not be forever did we???!!

    13. Usually it snows here during the 2-4! We’ll get one wicked day where it’s like 25+ and then wake up to snow. Ah, Calgary weather – gotta love it!
