How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

School Is Costing Me A Fortune

in Uncategorized on 09/22/10

The kids are in school. It’s only week two.

I find myself idle.

So what do I do to pass the time?

Shop.

The sales are ridiculous! It’s like the stores have been laying in wait for all the emotionally drained my kids are at school and my heart is there too Mama’s to wonder like zombies into their waiting and eager clutches.

So far I have fallen victim to:
Guess Jeans with the cutest pockets ever.
A Pretty little T.
Grey Nail Polish.
I still have to find some new boots….shoes/boots always make me feel better. (they always fit)

Am I trying to hang on to my youth with these unneeded purchases or is this just a case of good old fashioned retail therapy. Yeah I know, it’s retail therapy at its finest.

Damn, it’s expensive when the kids go back to school.

And all this time I’ve been soothing myself by cleaning. I need to change my ways!

When it is rainy outside is when I spend most moey shopping. My little one isn’t in school yet so he gets bored inside. SO what does mommy propose? LET”S GO SHOPPING! So I am right there with ya

Your shoes always fit? I think mine NEVER fit. They might fit in the store during the 5 minutes I wear them, but once out of the store –it’s painful. I think that’s why I hate shoes.

As long as your happy with your purchases, don’t feel guilty. A little splurge is always necessary.

      Hey Modernmom,

I’ve been a little MIA lately…sooo busy with school! LAST YEAR FOR MY UNDERGRAD!! 🙂
but I still make time to read the great blogs. What are the guess jeans called (they should have a name stitched to the inside of the back – I could use some retail therapy lol)

For boots…I’m not sure what you are looking for but I just bought a really cute pair of flats from Town shoes – they are black leather and they are steve maddens. Also if your looking for something with a heel they have tonnns right now. I always try to get my boots earlier lol…plus there are nice colors to choose from.

Another place you can check is the victoria secret website. I got a catalouge in the mail…and the booots they are selling LOOK GREAT. Good Luck!

It’s the silence of no kids that’s Therapeutic!!!!! Man, i’d shop at the dollar store with no kids just to get some alone time!!! And a pair of new shoes is ALWAYS a good idea! i’m on the hunt for some black boots myself!

Absolutely nothing wrong with trying to hang on to your youth…when you find a sure fire item that screams “I’m young and you can’t prove otherwise!” let me know, k? I’ll go out and buy it too!

I went overboard on Zappos! I ordered two pair of boots, one pair of shoes, several cute tops and a camo jacket. Shoemall got hit big too!
