How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Deep Thoughts from the Suburbs

in Uncategorized on 07/05/10

My child is 11 years old and it was 11:30 at night.  When I  went to check on her last night I did the lick your finger stick it under her nose to make sure she is still breathing thing.  Haven’t pulled that one out in a long time.

Presidents Choice Chocolate Chip cookies were on sale at the grocery store today.  We bought 3 bags.  These cookies never disappoint.  I guarantee their won’t be one cookie left by Wednesday.

I bought my 11 year old daughter a size Small shirt at American Eagle. It fit her perfectly.  She is a little gymnast with a six pack.  Suddenly don’t feel so bad about those size Larges I’m sporting.

We went to a family wedding last weekend.  The couple were so in love and the ceremony was lovely.  Years ago you enjoyed a wedding if there was a free bar.  Now the sign of a good wedding is if the facility has good bathrooms, you can park fairly close to the hall so your killer heels don’t hurt your toes, and you can arrange a sitter who is skilled enough to get your kids to fall asleep BEFORE you get home.  Old much?

My kids know every word to “I Kissed a Girl and I Liked it”. Mmm  Is this a sign of bad parenting?

I’m going to go back outside to watch my kids act like monkeys on the climber and bake my brain in some more in the sun.  Clearly need that!

Hope you have a wonderfully random Monday!

Mwah!

I often climb into bed with my kids for just a few minutes. I just know one day I’ll wake up and they’ll be grown.

Oh yeah sorry to say a wedding is a great time if they have great food right. If not you dressed up walked all that way and then you want great food. Oh wait it is not like that it is to see two people who love each other marry. I get to go to one in a few weeks..

You children sound wonderful.. My little 2year old loves Tonights the night. I think by Black Eye Pea.. Oops..

Ahh your thoughts always intrigue me! I always wonder about the mom I would be if I had kids and I actually always wonder, ” How am I going to shut the radio off when lady gaga is playing! I mean, I love her! haha” oh boy.

Love reading you like always 🙂

Yep, we have a couple of weddings coming up and the open bar is the last thing on my mind! Now it’s much more like you described. I figure that maybe once Blub and I retire and the kids are grown we can go back to worrying about the open bar 🙂

My girls love The GaGa! I don’t know what I will do when they are old enough to understand what they are singing! LOL

I know all the words to that song too…my 8 year old knows a lot of them. She also sings when my phone rings and plays “I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand…”

I never heard of the finger under the nose thing – I used to just get down and stare fiercely at his chest to see if it was moving. Oh and don’t worry about that song – it’s the ones they’ll want to listen to in a couple of years that you should worry about…..trust me.

The finger up the nose is a new one…

As for the song..I wouldn’t worry much. My 4 year old sings “Gives You Hell” by the All American Rejects.

My kids are locked in the downstairs bathroom, unless we are making cheese curds or quicksand, so, they don’t sing.

My life revolves around bathrooms…enjoy the day!

Is that your backyard? We’re coming over! Also, I do that breathing thing with my boys all the time, don’t worry!
Also, my kids sing to Eminem. Again, don’t worry.
And… cookies are the best. Those ones specifically! YUMMY! (And Golden Oreas, my new obsession.)

My kids know the words to Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi and they too enjoy I Kissed A Girl.

Again can totally relate to everything you said!
