How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

I’m Not Ready!

in Family on 09/01/09

For later bedtimes.
Requests for e-mail accounts.
Facebook is not an option.
Parties that go until 10pm?
Talk of boys with blushing faces.
Training bras?
PG13 movies.
IPods with her music.
Lip gloss (okay chap stick cause I won’t let her)
Boy Bands.

What happened to:
Bedtime stories?
Holding hands with her sister in the mall ?
Pink clothes from head to toe?
Kissing boo boos better?
Elmo?
That baby smell. Sigh.

I swear to you, it seems they were all here yesterday.

Will someone please stop the clock?

Time is passing way to fast.

I don’t have kids, so I can’t relate, but I thought this was very sweet. I hope she sees it someday and realizes how sweet it is.

I understand you 🙂 Don’t have kids, but have younger brother. He’s college student right now,and I still feels like he is 5 years old kid.And I am so suprised when he starts talking all smart and serious. When did that happen? 🙂

I remember when I used be covered from head to toe in pink. But, (Sigh) time can’t wait, & I feel so embaressed when I think about it…

Oh no! I will trade you for a day. Mine is still bedtime stories, smells clean (well minus the Prune incident), but she is well on her way to iPods, shoes, boyfriends, all that scary stuff you just mentioned. But just think what a wonderful woman she will become because you are her mom!! I know…I’m a sap.

      xoxo my friend!

Oh my gosh… tear, tear!!!! I am not ready for any of that either – hell, I’m not even close to being ready for my oldest son to start kindergarten! WHY do they grow up so fast???

I am living that hell. Okay, it really is not that awful, just different and you get to have these amazing conversations with older kids too. Each stage is special, but I am pretty sure God had it right by putting the teen years right before they move out of the house – you get to where you are ready to see them fly out of the nest.

my girls are 11 and 13 – the pink is gone – the baby smell is way gone, and boys and make up are the key topics – I really do miss pink.

      Love,

Tell me, sister! My kids are 30 and 31–10 years older than when I had them–how the hell did that happen?

Enjoy every day with your babies. And they’ll alway be your babies to you!

      XOXO

Buck up, buddy! It’s only life. From now on laugh when she crys or falls, embarass her when she’s with her friends, let her make a fool of herself by wearing too much make up and looks like a clown, and forget the baby smell because if you become too preoccupied with it she may surprise you with one …

      Basically, be a MOM!

I only jest with you, don’t be cruel … love your daughter like always 🙂

My 6th grader reached for my hand as we walked out of her orientation last night. I had been trying all night not to reach for hers. I know she’s too old for that. But she reached for mine. And all was well again – at least for a little while.
