How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Escape From the Suburbs

I’ve decided.
Five nights away from the daily grind is good for the soul.
It probably doesn’t matter where you go, it’s the getting that is important.
Days spent torn between the sun on the front deck or the breeze on the white beach.
Deciding between walks in the woods or quiet snuggles on the couch.
Knee deep in sandcastles and sunscreen.
Ice cold Corona with good friends.
BBQ’s and Take Out.
Ice Cream dripping from delighted chins.
Rip roaring giggles of care free kids crashing in the waves.
Beach Chairs and Sunsets.
Exhausted children carried off to bed.
Time alone to re-charge and re-connect.
Time to smile, relax and remind ourselves how truly lucky we are.
The only problem…
I really wasn’t ready to come home.

Sigh… how perfect does that all sound? Vacations with the children are so awesome, aren’t they? And why do they end so quickly? That’s the worst part… coming home! Sounds like it is time for you to start planning your next getaway!

Well…I’ll be selfish and say I’m glad you’re back!
Glad you had a nice escape, though…I need one.

I leave for vacation a week from today!!!! Except I live at the beach, so an escape for me is the quiet mountains, and I can hardly wait!! And I’m still wanting to know if you got that kitten 🙂

Sounds absolutely delightful. I am so looking forward to my 2 night/3 day getaway with dh at the end of the month – we so need the re-charge and re-connect part. First real vacation without kids in 8 year.

      I agree … I don’t have kids, but I can’t wait to get away!

I leave for Hawai’i (#1 vaca in over, well, 25 years!) on August 5. Come back the 12th. Then it’s off to a business trip on Aug 17th in New Mexico until the 30th …

      It’s only a matter of time 🙂

Oh if only we were all independently wealthy…we could do that everyday.

Sounds heavenly! I so need one of those FIVE DAYS…gosh…even a SINGLE day would be heaven!

Glad you had fun, glad to see you are back my friend!
