Have you heard of the Match International Women’s Fund?  As a woman, and a mother to two girls, this is a project I was honoured to learn about and support.  The Match International Women’s Fund is a a grant-making organization that funds women’s rights organizations around the world to make lasting changes in the lives of women and girls. They support projects that dismantle barriers, change systems, challenge perceptions and transform society.  They empower women. 

“The MATCH International Women’s Fund has two goals: to hold ground and break ground for women.

Holding Ground. Every day, millions of women seek out critical support from women’s organizations in their communities. Women’s shelters, drop-in clinics and support groups provide women with the care they need to escape violence, know their rights and plan for a better future. All over the world, from Canada to Ghana to Bangladesh, women need these kinds of services. In low-income countries, women’s organizations play an even greater role in the protection of women’s rights through family planning, protection from violence, education and psychosocial support. Although these organizations are vital to the well-being of women, the reality is they are greatly underfunded and can rarely meet the demand. The MATCH International Women’s Fund will work to support these organizations that continue to hold ground for women.

Breaking Ground. Our years of experience have shown us that changing the attitudes, behaviours and policies that oppress women requires new thinking – innovations which harness new ways to bring about social change. Around the world, women are coming together, sharing ideas, and developing new and innovative solutions to challenge the barriers they face. The MATCH International Women’s Fund will invest in these ideas.”  matchinternational.org

Match International Women’s Funds women’s rights organizations around the world to make lasting changes in the lives of women and girls.   Their mission, to invest in women’s innovations toward lasting improvements in the rights and equality of women globally.  The MATCH International Women’s Fund acts as a catalyst for change by mobilizing financial support, relationships and access to resources to be directed toward women-led innovations.  They are doing incredible work.
