How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

Short And Shallow

in Everyday on 10/02/17

Thank you to the sweet lady who gave me her grocery cart when I couldn’t find one damn quarter to free one from the grocery cart stall myself.  I promise to pay it forward.

Thank you, grocery store for your hot and ready, pre-cooked chicken (with a side of fries).  I know what’s for dinner tonight.  No shame in my game.

Thank you to the wonderful Mom who picked up my daughter from dance so Hubby and I could act like adults for a little while.  All dressed up at a dinner party, together.  That was a very good night.

My sincerest (and most sarcastic) thanks to the garbage man who threw my giant green garbage pail into the middle of the lawn this week instead of letting it roll down the road as usual.  Such a surprise to find that pail where it belongs.

Thank you, Banana Republic for your clearance rack.  I do adore you.

Thank you, PR rep for that last minute conference call cancellation. No sarcasm, a true thank you.  One less thing.

Thank you to the group of 20-year-olds who gave me a whistle as I walked out of Tim Hortons.

Sigh. Sometimes as you battle life in suburbia, it’s the little things that get you through.

I enjoyed reading this. Sometimes it really is the little things that make the difference. And those damn carts that require the quarters or a LOONIE suck big time!!!

Haha I’m on board a lot with that pre-cooked chicken from the deli for those quick dinners we just need to be thankful for! I think we can all find atleast one thing in our day to be thankful for, no matter how small it may be.

Little things are important, and so is being thankful. Thanks for the humour and the reminder of how important it is to be thankful, even (and especially) for the little things.

There are so many things to be thankful for each and everyday but sometimes they are easy to miss in the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Leaving the house behind and headed to Ontario cottage country. 🌲☀️
The hubby and I are planning a 7 night lakeside escape just a few hours from home, and honestly, this is where the girl math really starts mathing. After an expensive year, I’m extra grateful for our HomeExchange membership — and I love browsing all the gorgeous lakefront homes nearby!

Do you have a favourite town or lake in cottage country? Tell me!!

One annual membership fee + listing our home = unlimited swaps all year long. Affordable luxury travel for the win.

If you want to travel more often and live like a local, you need to check out @homeexchangecom.
