Mosquitos Bugging You? Meet NuTone Haven! $300 Giveaway

in Everyday on 08/07/18

Friends, you may want to pay attention because I’m about to introduce you to a very exciting product.  One that is going to help you regain control of your backyard!   Imagine if you could sit in the backyard you’ve worked so hard to create – during the day or at night- and not be bothered by mosquitos!  Seriously.  It can happen with a little help from the ridiculously innovative product called Nutone Haven Backyard Mosquito Repellent.  Have a peek at this short video to see how it works.

NuTone Haven  Backyard Mosquito Repellent is an odourless, child and pet-friendly mosquito protection system, which when engaged, provides a 440 sq. ft. zone of protection against all types of mosquitos.  It uses four landscape fixtures, that you set up in your yard, to create an invisible barrier that will transform your backyard into the relaxing summer paradise you’ve always dreamed of.  It’s actually a fairly simple technology that provides permanent outdoor comfort.

When NuTone contacted me to see if I was interested in giving their product a test run I jumped at the chance.  The summer is all too short here in Ontario and I was eager to see if NuTone Haven could help us make the most of our favourite season.  We have a pool, a big back deck, and a gaggle of teens always going in and out.  We want to be able to use our yard as much as possible, but sometimes those mosquitos drive us indoors and that’s where we stay.  In all honesty, daytime isn’t usually isn’t too bad, bug wise, but when dusk rolls around the mosquitos attack like it’s their job!  I welcomed the chance to try this new product and crossed my fingers that NuTone Haven might actually be able to extend our days in the yard and allow us to enjoy a few more dinners out on the deck…. bug-free.

A little research told me that each fixture is totally safe for people and their pets, containing a vaporizer that releases an odourless, invisible and silent repellent. I felt safe installing it in my yard.  I also learned that an additional 110 sq. ft. of coverage is also possible by adding another fixture, for a total of 550 sq. ft. and I must admit I did wish I had this extension.  It was a bit of a challenge to find a spot the system would “fit”.  Once Hubby and I agreed we would encircle an area nearest our pool, we went to work.  Reading the instructions told us the entire system is powered by a low-voltage cable and seemed it would be fairly simple to install.

In reality, it did require an extra trip to the hardware store to pick up a couple of things before we could complete our installation.  We were able to find the correct transformers and low voltage cables ( I learned a lot) at Lowes. It’s helpful to know that the NuTone Haven fixtures can be staked into the ground, a deck post or railing with an optional mounting flange.  I can’t claim I learned all I needed to install the system, or that I could ever do this by myself, but Hubby did a bang up job!  In just a few hours our new mosquito battling system was pretty much ready to go.  Bring on the test run!

As promised the system reaches optimal performance within 15 minutes of activation and is said to provide over 216 hours of mosquito protection. Brilliant.  Now saying goodbye to mosquitoes for the entire summer is going to be as easy as turning on and off a light.  One of the coolest features of this system is that once you turn it on it runs for 4 hours and then turns off automatically.  We’re looking forward to many more mosquito free dinners and cocktails on the deck all thanks to the NuTone Haven Backyard Mosquito Repellent System.

What you need to know.

The NuTone Haven four-pack includes:

  •  4 fixtures
  •  4 repellent refills
  •  a 65-foot low-voltage cable a controller
  • NuTone Haven is available for $299 at the following locations: Lowe’s, RONA, Réno Dépôt, and Ace Hardware.
  • If desired, you can also purchase an expander kit as well as a 4-pack repellent refill.
  • This system doesn’t kill the mosquitos, it just keeps them away from you.
  • You did need a little electrical know-how (or be really patient with yourself) in order to set this up.
  • This system would be perfect for those with a patio, deck, or even child’s play area that you wish to keep mosquito free.  If that area is already surrounded by woodchips or loose ground cover of some kind even better as some cable work is involved.
  • We think this is a great way to help control the mosquitos in your outdoor space.

Are you ready to take back your outdoor living space?  I hope so because one lucky reader of How To Survive Life In The Suburbs has a chance to WIN a NuTone Haven Backyard Mosquito Repellent system of their very own. We like to sit in the backyard in our “Ommm area”, it was rocking chairs, lots of plants and shade. We are usually there after work to unstress.
