The Florida Feel Better Twitter Party!

Does a new year mean a new start?  I like to think 2013 is offering up a big bright world of possibilities!  There really is something magical about starting a new calendar, beginning a new journal and making a fresh start on a brand new year.  Do I make New Year’s Resolutions?  Not really, but I do start out the new year with an optimistic view and a list of dreams a mile long.  On this year’s list?  Making the most of travel opportunities for my family and trying to set an even better example for my children so they know that healthy living should be a priority!  Confession; we need to be more active and eat a little better in this house!
So here is my plan.  First, we need to get moving.  Moving a little more for me means hitting the treadmill, but that’s not very inspiring for the little ones.  Instead we will opt for the family friendly choices of sledding, hikes in the snow, or even hitting the bowling alley.  Anything we can do to keep the little one’s active.  More time moving and less time on the couch is so important to a well-balanced life style.
Secondly, we need to try and watch what we eat!  I believe in everything in moderation, we just need to be sure we are leaning a little more heavily towards the healthy stuff.  A couple of things you can always find in my fridge? Tupperware containers stocked full of fresh veggies and dip, and loads of fresh fruit and juices.  Orange juice, grapefruit juice and the sweetest of grapefruits top this list.  This is one of the reasons I was so happy to discover Feel Better Florida on both Facebook and Twitter

Their sites provide a plethora of factual information about the benefits of Florida grapefruit, grapefruit juice and orange juice.  There are some fabulous recipes too!  Since I’m planning a trip to Florida next month, I figured I would give this one a whirl, The Florida Sunshine Shake, it didn’t disappoint!  My youngest daughter and I whipped it up in a hand held blender for a quick and delish afternoon treat!
