and was startled by what I saw. IMG_4876

I was looking at my Motherโ€™s hands.

Sigh.ย  When did that happen?

  1. I have had the same thing happen with me too! Even when I look at myself in the bathroom mirror, I see my Mom looking back at me..

I really miss her, as she passed away back in 1987, at the young age of 55..

    Blessings,
    ~Lynn

  2. Well, your mother has very nice hands. And I love your nails!
But, sigh. I know what you mean. I am noticing those things, too. And I’m not okay with it. Let’s drink our sorrows away at BlissDom, shall we? Doesn’t drinking keep us young… or something? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Funny how that happens. Once I said, “I do,” my life hit the fast forward button. Ten years later and I’m seeing my mother looking back at me in the mirror a little more every day. Such is life, I guess.

    Love the french manicure! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. You are too funny. Well they are nice pretty hands! LOL. My moms hands have long nails painted strong obnoxious colors. My hands look fat and stubby and grubby. I don’t think my hands will ever look like my mom’s

  5. You really do make me laugh out loud! I just love ya! Have a great day! XOXO Jessica

  6. I’ve totally been noticing the same thing with my hands! Not the shape of my hand, but the way my skin looks! I mean I have huge fingers (size 13 and 3/4 ring finger!) and my mom’s are not big at all. But the way her skin looks….so weird!

  7. what are you talking about…i think your hands/skin looks good. pretty nails too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. So funny! I am not quite there yet, but I know it is soon upon me. They are quite lovely hands though if that makes you feel better!

  9. I felt the same way a couple months ago. I looked at my hands and was amazed at how much they reminded me of my grandmothers hands when I was a young child. I wrote a blog post about it but never published it.

  10. All I could do was look at your pretty nails!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. It sneaks up on you! I was thinking the same but insert Nana for Mom. My wedding band was my Nana’s so it’s even easier to picture. I miss her ๐Ÿ™

  12. I had teh same thing happen to me…except I was looking at me feet :O)

  13. Haha, just wait until it’s your grandmother’s hands.

  14. You have lovely hands!

  15. Hi .. found your blog through canadianbloggergirl.blogspot.com ..

Don’t think your hands look old at all … I sometimes see my Mom when I look in the mirror.

  16. lol..

well i think your hands look great!!!

my hands.. and my mothers hands.. COULD NOT BE ANY MORE DIFFERENT.. no! seriously.. lol

  17. awww…this is why i refuse to look in the mirror…in case she looks back at me…smiles.

  18. Pretty Nails!

  19. Oh puleeze! Your hands are lovely!
Great blog post though! What a novel way of demonstrating how we are turning into our mothers….I, on the other hand, have hands that are far more wrinkled than my 66 year old mother. Oh the sun! Curse you rays!

  20. Popped in to say hi! I’ve got my dad’s hands–terrifying!

  21. Uh oh! I haven’t had this happen yet!

  22. It’s shocking, isn’t it? But also sweet.

  23. Those are lovely! The sad part is when you look and see your *father’s* hands. That’s kind of what I’m experiencing these days. Darn man hands.

  24. for me it’s the laugh lines around my mouth and eyes that I notice.

  25. Oh you have beautiful hands and nails…. your mom would be proud.

  26. I see my moms hand all the time now too! How does that happen??

  27. All my life I’ve been told I’m the spitting image of my father – but lately, I’ve been seeing signs of my mother. Maybe it’s true? Eventually we do turn into our mothers? (eek! this could be scary!)

  28. Oh, at least it’s your hands and they look perfectly fine!

I try not to look in the mirror too long – I’ll find more gray in my hair! ๐Ÿ™

  29. You have beautiful hands just so ya know!
    xoxo

  30. Your hand does look very nice but all I can say it that it happens to the best of us!

  31. Yep… know the feeling!

  32. Whatever. You should see my mitts. Ewww.

  33. I totally know what you mean – and in the moment it totally hits you ๐Ÿ™‚ LOVE the nails!!

  34. I have my mother’s hands too.
I always wished I had cuter hands.

  35. I do that all the time I pass by the mirror. One day I said when did my mom get here. I was serious!

  36. Your mom had beautifully manicured hands? ossum! ๐Ÿ˜€

  37. Came across you adorable blog and had to say hi. Im a new follower ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. …but…but.. at least your nails look good! ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Ohh no, My hands are totally beginning to look like my moms… guess its all just a matter of time ๐Ÿ˜€

  40. Cleverly funny post. Thanks for making me laugh…out loud.

Just want to let you know that, in my latest post, I mentioned you and your blog. See for yourself:

  41. ๐Ÿ™‚
Just think of all the great things your Mom’s hands have done.
    Welcome to the club.

  42. Isnt it crazy how that happens!?

  43. I so know the feeling!

(Just popping in from Twitter. Cute website!)

  44. I remember being a little girl looking at my mom’s hands. They were rough, thin, bony, and reddish.

As I get older, mine are starting to get rougher and bonier. Still not red! Give me another year and I’ll be right there with you!

  45. I am noticing that too. Yucky (on my hands, not yours!)

  46. Sigh. The hands. Why do they have to give us away? But yours are so nicely manicured – nothing like my Mom’s hands:)

  47. I have had the exact same thought when I looked at my hand. When did this happen?

  48. I see my mom’s and grandma’s all the time…not a fan!

  49. I noticed that about my own hands a few years ago. It made me cry because my mom had been gone almost7 years and seeing “her” hands again made me happy.
