Welcome!

I'm often amazed and confused by the bizarre happenings behind the closed and competitive doors of the typical suburban home. The following is a place to share my thoughts and reflections on daily life as I try to navigate this crazy and wonderful world.

Random Thoughts...no filter

My carpool sux. They bail 40% of the time. Rude.

My daughter fell down the stairs. There is no faster way to get your heart into your throat. I was shaking as badly as she was. She's tough. She is fine. Whew.

My heart aches. My girlfriends marriage of 14 years is on the rocks. MEN!!!
Her girls cry all day. My Hubby got extra loving last night.

We are trying to buy a vacation home in Florida! Woo Hoo! Made an offer, then a counter offer...waiting with fingers crossed.

One day when the world is ruled by robots and future mankind. When diseases are cured. When the planet is at peace. We were still be plagued by head lice. Nothing kills those little suckers!

My computer crashed and I lost at least three posts that I thought were witty and blog worthy, so now you are stuck reading these ramblings from my head. Really hope I win that new HP mini!

Happy Thursday y'all!

I carpooled for YEARS with the same person. The other day I called to see if her teenage son could bring my youngest home from school, because I was in a bind. She acts like I'm asking her to perform brain surgery. Hello...people....I help you...you help back. It's really quite a simple equation?!

Head lice. I can't even tell you the nightmares I still have about those little bugs!!

Just A Mom (Call me JAM for short) said...

Never did like car pool. I always felt like I was the only one driving.

Glad that your daughter is okay. Scary stuff.

And...

Did you have to mention the lice? Now my head itches!

Allison said...

Home remedy for head lice: coat the head in mayonaise and wrap in cling wrap for an hour. It works, I promise! Although it will probably turn you off of mayo for a long time.

Glad your daughter is okay. Tumbles are scary!

Dalia said...

Oh, lice! You are right! And what a bad rap they have! I am not saying they are fun or anything, but so stereotyped, you know! Really, anyone can get those little things!

Following your blog!

That totally sucks that your carpoolers are so unreliable. Kick 'em in the nuts! (if they're men) Did I just write that? How redneck of me...

Kids falling down stairs is one of my little nightmares. It's happened more times than I can count between my three and I'm waiting for a really bad one. Ugh...

I'm so glad your daughter is okay, although she'll probably be sore tomorrow. Those head lice sound like some tough little buggers. Ick!! I hope you get your vacation home in Florida. Is it close the beach?

Fingers-crossed for your vacation home! OMGoodness, lice is the worst. Combing for nits is so not fun and then of course your own head starts itching - eeewwww.

I hate stairs. I always thought when my kids got older, my anxiety would go away. Nope...I still hold my breath as they come down.

I hope your friend is able to work out what ever is going on.

When my daughter was smaller she got lice (before she was 2, but her hair was down to her waist). It was so hard to get rid of because she didn't want to sit still to let me pick them out of her hair! Funny, she kept it for months it seemed like and I never got it (weird).. Anyway, I finally put olive oil in her hair and covered with plastic wrap and a head cover.... They were gone soon after. They also say it is too harsh to keep using that medicated shampoo, so that scared me. I read you could use regular hair conditioner then comb out, vaseline, mayonaise.....basically anything like that will smother the live bugs and allow the nits to slide off the hair shaft. Good Luck! They also say that blondes get lice worse, wonder why?

My daughter fell down the stairs twice in one year..just like a very bumpy slide, down she went, fine both times. She now has a great rep for being clumsy and she does not know why...(and I thought all my brains went to her..now I have no clue who got 'em.

Almost nothing troubles me more than seeing a long-term marriage break apart. Too me it seems, it's almost always because of unfulfilled sexual desires, one party or the other.
The lesson is obvious...

I'm terribly sorry for your friend. There's a lot of that going around right now. :( And your poor little girl that fell....

Awesome on the Florida home!!! So exciting and I hope your offer is accepted.

My son fell down our basement stairs when he was about 1 1/2, and every time I think about it, my heart starts to palpitate. And, he's 16 now!! Scary as hell!

So sorry for your friend. Why do men have to be such assbags?

Good luck on the vacation home. I hope they accept your offer.

Lice - can't even go there...

My computer has also been on the fritz lately. Every time I turn it back on after hibernating, I get this ominous error message telling me my hard drive is about to go, and that I need to back everything up and replace it. Sheesh! As if I even know how to do that! Crap! I did buy an external hard drive at Christmas because it was on sale, but I don't know what the hell I'm doing when it comes to backing up my files. I guess I'm going to have to have the 16 year old do it!

I would probably stab myself in the eyeball if I lost 3 witty blog postings. And I am so relieved little one was ok after her spill down the stairs!

Once again I get lumped in with the general assumption that all MEN are created evil! LOL!

I guess I will never be invited to a cook out at the Florida vacation home!

I did notice the only good thing of note is in the middle of the post. The rest sounds just horrible.

Your venting sounds like mine too..kinda. :)
I became a pro at getting rid of lice the natural way. Email me if you want the details.
Where in Florida? Orlando???
Good luck!!!! Really, anyone in Florida is lucky to get an offer.

The cashier at my grocery store was wearing lipstick and she never does. I said, "Oh, you have a new boyfriend?" and she laughed and said:

"I'm DONE with men. Being home when they need me to be home, cooking, saving $$ for what they want. FORGET IT."

I had to laugh.

Insanitykim said...

I think you should charge for the carpool...forget integrity, people respond to money. Sheesh.

You're awesome man.

Do you get tired of me saying that?

Lice. Does mayonnaise work?

Computers make me CRAZY! mine crashes all the time, especially after I write a supa long email...

Florida! You'll be so close! I shall stalk, er, visit you! Yes!

Men are jerks.....and most of them smell.
I'm glad your daughter is not seriously hurt.
Good luck with the vacation house. Let me know if you get it, I'll bring the wine.
Mayo gets rid of lice, no kidding. Saturate the hair in it, put on a plastic bag (stop making that face), and leave on for a few hours. Repeat the process twice in the next week. It suffocates them. I do not know this from experience. A girl at work tried everything with her daughter, and this is the only treatment that actually worked.

Just Breathe said...

That is rude, so do you have to pick up all the others? Glad she is okay. I've been there with the marriage shit and it sucks. A place in Florida, awesome. I want to win that HP but if I don't I want it to be YOU!

Michelle @ Flying Giggles said...

What is going on? It seems like everyone around us is getting a divorce! I hope it is not contagious.

Head lice is not fun. I was exposed to it so many times as a preschool teacher, thankfully, I never caught it.

Good luck on that Mini...hopefully we both win one!
