Who decided TV was bad?
Yeah, I don't care what you say, TV is gooood, real good. It is a cheap, clean form of entertainment. TV has been my time killer for the kids. Yes I can admit I am that Mom...Oh please girl, are you telling me you never let your kids watch 1 episode more of TV then you thought was a good idea so you could get dinner ready, Pee alone or have one uninterrupted phone call without someone pulling on your leg?? On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, throw in a bowl of popcorn and dim the lights and you have yourself date night or family night. There is no sense fighting it. TV. Good.
Cartoons however are ridiculous. How is it that I have not written a children's cartoon or for that matter a man child's cartoon and made myself a million dollars? Family guy? Simpsons? Just draw some funny looking people, exaggerate their body parts, throw them in some socially awkward situations and add farting. Cartoon Hit!
There are not enough hours in a day. Sure I can get the stupid laundry done, clean the sticky off the floors, organize a quasi healthy meal like a good Mommy....but where is the time left for my mani/pedi? For lounging in my PJ's? For reading a good book with a cup of hot cocoa. Why must I do all of my things after 10:30pm?
Why is it that the one morning you don't get dressed RIGHT away. The one time you decide to do that lounging in your PJ's, surf some blogs, don't have that shower and do the full make-up thing...is the time both the UPS guy and the creepy pool guy show up.
Sigh. Must go now.

You are living my life. I totally noticed that cartoons are wierd and full of nothing but trouble and violence. I don't get it. What ever happend to the Pee Wee Herman show and the secret word. Now that was a great show.
The TV and or Computer are my babysitters. My family can't live without either one. lol
Hope ou get to stay in your pj's AFTER they leave. I'd love a good day like that too.
Being a mom is a ROUGH ROUGH job!
And the tv is fine by me :)
I am in my PJ's most days until at least 1PM and often 4PM rolls around and I'm still in them! I don't get the door, ever! Unless I know I have a pkg coming that needs a signature you won't get me to open that door. I keep telling myself that I have to shower and get dressed and then blog but it doesn't happen. Of course I can only do this because my kids are grown and out of the nest.
I love TV! I actually love movies and have them going all day long.
We didn't have much more then Sesame Street when my kids were little but I definately let them watch it. I was never much for cartoons except for the Flinstones & the Jetson's, those rocked.
I do agree with you.
You are so right about the TV! I bet there isn't a mom out here who hasn't used the television as a babysitter at one time or another. Creepy Pool Guy - You mean you have a pool??!! - Lucky Gal!
Deb
LOL, I dread TV, however my kids LOVE it..and so does the hubby =/
I agreed with everything in this post! Love your blog and I am now officially your newest follower! :)
"Why must I do all of my things after x:xxpm?"
"There's just not enough hours in the day!"
How many times have I (and the million mothers the world over) said this? :)
I love your thoughts today...I agree with you on all points. :)
Good luck with the beach vacation!!
I hear ya, I hear ya...
The only way I got anything done was the clean, commercial free Noggin flowing freely from the television for hours on end. Now that they are older it's a bit easier but hey, child programming, it's the shiz...wish I could italicize that...just say it like this, "shizzzzzzzzz". For realz.
Fingers crossed that you're able to find SOME peace today - maybe in a latte or an uninterupted bubble bath? As for TV - There is one show I don't mind watching with my kids "Wizards of Waverly Place" on the Disney channel. It reminds me of the Brady Bunch days - lessons learned, kids being kids and parents being parents (not absent doofuses).
I look at the women with nice nails and wonder where they get their extra hour in the day - oh I know...they don't blog!!!
I totally understand! A few days ago, I didn't get dressed until the afternoon and my cousin stopped by and said, "You are not dressed? It's one o'clock." Well, it was rainy and depressing and I wanted to stay in my pj's. Then, a couple of days ago, I did it again (rainy and depressing) and the Terminix guy came to our house. And the UPS guy came twice. I need to get a life outside of Yo Gabba Gabba. Speaking of, I was just thinking about letting my son watch TV today. Yes, I let him everyday. How else am I supposed to get stuff done? Come on!
Yup, we don't do cartoons either...and I admit to maybe ONE extra show every now and then for the kiddos. As for me and the hubs, well we are plain out addicted - we watch about 2 hours together every night :)
Hee hee, so my funny story for YOU. I usually wear pj's all day. Why not? I have no where to go, I work from home, and this way there are less clothes to wash and I can pretend to fit into my jeans if I am not wearing them. But one day we were going out and I was getting ready. The kids were still asleep so I headed downstairs in my bra and undies with my hair in a towel to make coffee. I heard a knock and the door, and not knowing what to do, I grabbed my long black coat from the closet. It was my s-i-l dropping off some clothes. she handed them to me and said "well, I will let you get back to your flashing" Thank goodness it was only her!
i'm TOTALLY with you.. i think the TV is good, and fun too.
My kids love pj days but your right that is when people show up unexpectedly.
That last one is the worst. All of them echo my life in so many ways. Maybe if I farted more it would be funny.
Unfortunately there is some kind of jammy radar that people have. Same thing happens to me ALL the time!
I like your "oh please girl" sentence where you are speaking to all those perfect moms married to perfect husbands and raising perfect children in their perfect homes in their perfect little worlds.....who would NEVER allow their perfect children to watch television.
And believe me, there are plenty of those perfect mommies out there.....read enough blogs and you'll find them.
I like your down-to-earth realistic approach to things.
I'm spending entirely too much time in my pajamas these days too!
Ahhhhhhh, the life of a SAHM. Does it ever get easier?? Ah ha. I currently have piled up dishes and several loads of laundry to do. What am I doing? Blogging. Go figure.
Before my belly popped was gonna be the mom that never let her kids watch TV. was going to be the mom that gave cnstant attetnion and interaction to her kids.
Then I popped!
I agree. TV is wonderful. Not only so I can crap alone, butI LOVE to watch too!
And you are right. Cartoons are dmb. but your comment about "man child's cartoon" made me crack up so hard, I interrupted Baby DIVA watching Yo Gabba Gabba!
Oh and I got my PJ's and Granny panties on right now!!
It was definitely not me who decided TV was bad. I watched plenty of it as a kid and I turned out fine. Except for that little twitch of mine whenever Scooby Doo comes on. Hmmm....
Creepy Pool Guy! Every guy I walk past is a creepy somebody lately. Bra or braless, it's like they have x-ray vision!
Oh well!
I love my t.v. and computer for sure. I hope you had a great day.
The morning not-getting-dressed-right-away thing? Happens every freaking time. Karma loves a good joke eh?
Beatch!
Should sick the creepy pool boy on her.
I, too, like TV. Hey, I watched Guiding Light for 31 years. Network TV has a lot to be desired, though. I'm with Lisa Anne--I LOVE Pee Wee!
You are totally living my life as well. That's why I'm sitting here at 1:00 a.m., reading blogs and relaxing.
And I would lose my mind if it wasn't for Spongebob, toopy&Binoo, and Dora.I owe them all my sanity.
I do, however, get to stay in my jammies cuz i'm lucky enough to work from home... but :)
Anyway...... You're awsome! Hope you get some "me time" that you deserve.
Here's to being caught in your PJ's while at home! I've run the kids to school in them already thinking that nobody would see me. Turns out, the principal and every teacher that you happen to know personally will greet you as you walk your child to the door. Sans bra. *sigh*
Oh my gosh... I have to have the tv on even for myself just as background noise. I.cant.turn.it.off.
But I really don't "watch" anything.
I suck.
And PS... being back to work full time is horrid - I MISS the days of pjs and blogging!!!!!
Don't feel bad honey. At least you didn't fart in front of the UPS guy when he showed up, like I did.
When my kids were little Barney saved my life during the "bewitching hour" every night. If not for Barney, we would not have had dinner for the first 5 years of my kids' lives.
Yay to TV! I dont care what it is, cartoons or shows or anything. Except the News. always so depressing!
RMxx
Family Guy is actually brilliant.
Yes, there are a lot of fart jokes.
But IN BETWEEN the fart jokes, it's hilarious. In an adult way. Not for kids. Oh no.
Cartoons are stupid. And what's even worse than man-shild cartoons are the damn Spongebob Squarepants cartoons. I think that there about 6 episodes and I have seen them all 1000 times.
Write some new crap Spongebob Squarepants writers!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I've taken a little time and read through a few of your posts, and I will surely be back! I'm following you now too!
TV, never really saw what was so bad about it. I think it helped my daughter learn to talk.. she doesn't have siblings, and she talked to Blue and Barney, etc. when it was on!
