Text Messages Save the Day!
Times have changed. Even when you are stuck in a meeting where you can't take a call, you can still have important conversations with the one you love.
Did I narrowly avoid a minor disaster?
Thank you Blackberry Messenger!
Text Message conversation between me and the Hubby:
Hubs:
Hey baby. SweetGirl just found and caught a toad. She named it Mr.Nubs and she LOVES him. She really really wants to keep him.
Me:
And you told her?
Hubs:
Well... Do we still have the old aquarium?
Me:
NO.
(Thinking to myself. I already vacuum and swiffer every day thanks to our black lab who should be bald by now, I am the only one who looks after the damn fish that they just HAD to have, and you want to add some toad that you fished out of the pool to my to do list!?! Deal with this. Please.)
Hubby:
Oh.
What do you think I should do?
Me:
Honey. You are there. Can you please deal with this one?
Hubby:
Maybe the toad would be happier with its family?
Me:
Yes Honey. That's perfect.
(Thank you for my sweet man with a big soft heart, and his blackberry)
We loved you Mr.Nubs.

LOL! I love when they are paralyzed to make a decision, they are such push overs. Good thing like you said, he is so sweet that he let Mr. Nubs hop back to his family!
Disaster Averted! Phew! Safe for another day!
Sometimes Hubby's get a sixth sense - looks like he picked this up. I love toads - they are so funny looking! xx
Yes, Mr.Toad will be much happier as will Modern Mom. A win/win for sure!!
Success! Managed to get through to yr page!
LOL Nora & Lola:)
Dads are such suckers!!!
It is hard to be the decision maker sometimes, but you made the right call!
Ahh, he's sweet. :)
I could almost picture him as a 5-year old boy asking permission to keep the toad that he found...
I love texting during meetings!! It keeps me sane. My friends and I even text each other during the meeting.
Plus, no one calls you on it because they also want to text too!! Even the boss!!! And those that do not text have not freaking idea what your doing!!!
Cute story. It sounds like your husband handled it well.
You just have to love him!
Speaking of labs we had 12 puppies years ago and about a year later one of the puppy owners called us and asked about the shedding. He said he could stuff pillows with it! I think the toad will love to be with his family.
Yes I'm the same with pets. We already have the worst-shedding dog ever. And my husband is talking about stick insects and ant farms when the boys are older.
Aww. Great little story. Yep, my husband is a sucker too. He just can't say no to the kids. But I love him that way.
Dads can be the softy sometimes.
great story... but i just dont get it... why is it that they think they cant make decisions on their own... whats that about?!?!
Mr. Nubs happy / Mom happy / SweetGirl probably not so happy
I love toads.
Oh - laughs from me! That is funny. My kids too had to have the fish. They want to keep every creature they find as well, even grasshoppers. WE keep them for an hour and then let them "live free."
Thanks for stopping in.
That is such a cute little toad. Or frog. I never could tell them apart. Yesterday my boys found a scorpion in front of our house and another in the pool. Thankfully, both were dead so I don't have to even entertain the thought of keeping one as a pet!
Tooo cute. And such a great explanation. :-) Thanks for visiting my blog. Always happy to connect with a fellow Canuck!
So funny. I had the same situation when my daughter came home from a birthday party with fish in a bag. Who gives FISH in a goodie bag? I usually do candy and small toys. What is up with this people? You did the right thing...I think I might have caved.
I have textual relations with an amazing amount of partners. :)
Aw, poor Mr. Nubs! Ah well, at least his family will be glad to have him back! ;-)
Too flipping funny, yup Rick would be oh I'll just go buy a new tank. And then guess who can take care of it all!
Love it, super cute pics.
Love the blog! Grabbed the button :)
Hmm, I will admit. The conversation is reversed in my house. Exhibit A? The turtles living in a pool outside. I am a sucker.
Oh man, daddies and their daughters :)
I love this! My dad was the same way...so many stray pets and funny ones (turtles, lizards, mice, etc.) Gross, now that I think of it, but cute that he wanted me to be happy!
Hello! I just posted a funny animal find story myself. I mentioned you and your post and put a link. Check it out--I found a scorpion INSIDE my house! (YIKES!). It's not nearly as cute as Mr. Nubs. :)
but now wasn't that more fun than listening to a meeting :)
LOL, I'm glad Mr Nubs was able to go back to his family ;)
ha - for sure - we have fish - that I am the only one who take care of - a dog - that i am the only one who take care of - NO MORE ANIMALS in this house either!
Oh yes, we've claimed a lot of issues about "family" when returning animals to the wild. My kids are certain that there are loads of happy animal families because we've returned the "kinfolk" back to them!
